Hi there,
This is a question about avi2svcd coverting
Since i can't play the NTCS format on my TV i want to convert NTSC to PAL.
I've done it before without any problems everything went o.k.
But now i encounter a problem with the audio on the SVCD...it sounds like a slow record while in sync with the video part.
I can't figure out what i am doing wrong, i've done it before
It could be because i've been playing with the settings in avi2svcd.
Help would be much appreciated.
P.M.

-ota( -g max -r 29970 25000 ) AFAIK, this command is slowing down the audio, modifying the pitch, just to be in synch with the video.
There are other methods to convert NTSC to PAL, but I don't have much experience on this.
In any case, please post your log file dvd2svcd_log.txt.

I agree with your comment that is slows down the audio part to be in sync with the PAL frame rate, but the pitch doesn't speed up the sound like it should do with 4% And that's what i can't figure out, aspecialy becouse i've converted NTSC to PAL before with the exact same settings and it worked at that time.
Thanks for your reply

-ota( -g max -r 29970 25000 )
is the problem.
NTSC supports 2 framerates - 23.976 (NTSC-Film) and 29.970 (NTSC)
From film source (which accounts for most retail movie DVD's), conversion to PAL involves speeding up by 4% to change the framerate from 23.970 to 25.000 - this is hardly noticeable.
From 29.970 source, you have to slow down by nearly 20% to get down to 25fps and this you're gonna notice.
Being from a PAL country I don't know much about converting from NTSC to NTSC-film framerate. But to get a good result from NTSC2PAL, that's what you'd have to do. I assume your previous successes are from 23.976fps source.

Nick,
Thanks for your info, it helped me understanding the difference between the two used frame rates in ntsc.
I guess the files i've converted before where within the limits that can't hardly be noticed.
Looks like I'll just have to live with it.
