I have heard an increased amount of talk about cce matrix(s)recently and I was wondering if you can change the default matrix for cce when used with dvdrb and if they are really affective in improving quality. If I use the animation matrix on animation, will it improve it by very much.

btw, Do you think that the new quenc .55 or cce sp 2.67 give better results for movies in the 5-6.5 gig range?

RBOpt allows you to use different matrix for each VOBID.

Regarding their effectiveness, I really do not have a clue, but I use the alternative matrixes for low bitrates and ultra low bitrates, although I have not done a comparisson vs the standard matrix.

I have found that matrices are fairly nice in making a noisy or highly compressed backup a little nicer. i would recommend the kvcd notch matrice for high compressed backups or ones with lots of noise. As for animation I believe that rb-opt has a feature to implement a cce internal filter for animation which is a little different than a matrice. so for animation i would use rb opt and turn on the cce internal animation filter. seems to work great for me..

Thank you for posting back. Has anyone experimented more with cce matrices and rb-opt? Also, does rb-opt work with the newest version and when you load the ini file does it change any of the values from what the file had as default (from dvdrb)?

I compress a huge amount of anime and if there is a big difference in the animation matrix I need to know about it. Is the default encoding for cce from dvd-rb going to give me the best results? Thanks.
