Uhm I just used your program to convert a movie to "Xvid" ... and it used DivX. I had the Xvid checked ... ... so uhm, ya.
Using AutoGK Beta 1.70 -- Dling the 1.73 right now but I don't see it in the fixes.

Hello, Unregistered16, and welcome to the forum.

MPEG-4 codecs are funny things, especially on playback, because one codec may be able to playback others. For example, the XviD codec can be set to decode DivX. And ffdshow, used for playback only, can decode some 38 different codecs, 39 if you count raw uncompressed video.

But encoding? That requires the codec be present. In order for AutoGK to encode in DivX, you'll have to have it installed. It's not included with the AutoGK package, so if you didn't go get it and install it on your own, then there's no way for your file to have been encoded with it.

----

The easiest way to tell what's actually in an .avi file is to use GSpot. You'll find a link in Doom9's download section.

If you find that it really is the DivX codec, well, then... an AutoGK log file would be an appropriate thing to post here. It will describe which codec was actually used for your encoding task. But, because no one else has ever reported your problem or anything remotely like it before, the odds are against it being an application error. My guess is that it's either an inadvertant mistake (such as selecting the wrong codec) or a misinterpretation.

Go get GSpot, and see if it confirms the use of XviD or not.

... how I tell that it used DivX instead of Xvid is cuz of its annoying divx logo in the bottom right...

also I use the latest divx / xvid.
DivX 5.2.1 Pro
Xvid (1.01???) w/e comes with autogk

err... and I already deleted the old avi, cuz i was positive it was divx, and i hate those faggy logos they imprint on my dvds...
also a lot of the progs i have on my comp auto delete .log files =/ so i'll have to try it again and if it does same thing ill post it on here...

also may i suggest an auto update feature? those r always nice... and concidering the ammount of updates this prog has it'd be very nifty :p

Hi, unregistered16.

The DivX logo will be present in the lower right corner of the avi whether it was encoded using DivX or XviD.

I think if you open your avi in VDubMod (in the AGK folder), you can get the codec info in the 'File' > 'File Information'.

And relax. AGK doesn't make this mistake.

Unregistered.

did you check the divx configurations and made sure the "support generic mp4" box wasn't checked? if it was than divx will play the xvid you encoded AND display the divx logo. also in the divx config is the option to turn off the displaying of the logo. the logo is not burned into the final avi. it's just displayed.

The happy feature in AGK is its automaticity. An average user doesn't have to bother with advanced configurations: the XviD codec is installed as a matter of routine and the codec settings used as the developer thinks best as default. While installing DivX, the codec asks questions about configurations, but those also an average user can navigate through very easily, even if some of the options seem unclear.

Unregistered16 may report to us whether he was able to turn off display of the logo in his mpeg4 encoded movie files using pdottz's advice.

Regards.
