I recently backed up my copy of Kill Bill Vol. 2, used DVD Decrypter to rip and save the whole thing as an iso file, then used Nero Recode's "Recode main movie to DVD" function as I didn't want any extras. The trouble is, in one of the scenes there were subtitles which aren't there anymore. When using Recode it showed that there were 3 lots of subtitles, and I made sure they were ticked as to include them. What's going on? My only guess is that the subtitles I want are somehow getting missed by Recode. When I mount the iso file and play it, the subtitles are there. Has anyone else backed up this movie with subtitles intact? Surely there must be a way for me to get this to work without having to back up the whole DVD.

have you tried reimporting the DVD into recode to see if the 3 subs are still there?

maybe it's changing the 'forced' subs setting :)

Hi. :)

kbilly, you could try using DVD Shrink for this title.

Do a movie-only backup, using its "Re-author" mode.

After you've dragged the movie-title to the "DVD Structure" pane, on the left, right-click it.
A menu will appear, containing a "Default Streams" option.
Select it, and then use the "Subpicture" part to create the forced-subtitles.

The subpicture stream you should select is the smallest one. ;)

Thanks for the help, ddlooping! :) Used DVD Shrink and it worked a treat.
MackemX, I did try that and Recode still showed that the subtitles were there, so dunno what's up with that. Might stick with DVD Shrink in the future.. :D
