@JDobbs

The RUSH In Rio DVD2 which has multiple angles on the screen to pick from when viewing solos.

Original is: 6.60GB after DvdReMake Pro 2.5.3.
CCE'd is: 994MB

There are 7 VTSes, with 2, 3, 4, & 7 being what looks like, cut out by DVD-RB. And the main, VTS 1, being very, very short. Looks horrible.

This was done with CCE, 1 Pass VBR OFF, VBR Passes 2.

Previously I tried CCE, 1 Pass VBR ON. And it failed durring the 1st step of 3.

Need any other Debuggin' info? Let me know.

Look at the original structure of the DVD with Shrink, set it as "Not compresion"
What is the size of the Menus and of the Audio streams? Remember RB does not compress them, so from the size of the DVD5 (4.37 GB) you have to deduct them get what would be the space available for video.

So, in a music DVD with DTS + 5.1 + stereo plus large menus you could end with a relativelly small space for the video.

Furthermore, as discussed by jdobbs, RB is in fact not encoding the ILVU (as he considered the resulting bitrate would be very low and in the DVDs he tested the multiangle/ILVU were small, so the space gain would not be so much anyware.

But aparently this is resulting in problems with DVD large amount of angles/ILVU as apparently is your case.

Probably your case is similar to the ones discussed in this threads:

Hi. Yep, I use DVD Shrink 3.2 to shink menus & remove unwanted audio (not the logical setting). I prefer Shrink's method rather than DVD-RB which, last time I checked, left a blank spot.

I only transcode movies & their extras when testing...or if DVD-RB won't do it. I use CCE with DVD-RB.

I'm completely aware that DVD-RB ONLY works with movies & extras, & does not touch Menus.

I've also read the news about this new VIP version, I do tend to pay attention to release news. I know, it seems many people don't which is why you're making it very, very clear about multiangle/ILVU that JDobbs has spoken of.

Okay, now that we're past that....let's see what can be done about this. :)

Sorry if I seemed to imply you were rookier than me:D

My point was than in those threads it is being discussed the problems that huge ILVUs have on RB 0.65, a common occurrence in music DVDs as yours .
(from other thread)
Definitely As already mentioned, there are concert DVDs that have huge multi angle parts. For instance, I own a concert DVD (3 hours split over 2 DVDs) where only 20% of the total running lenght are not multiangle.
So, if my diagnostic is right, your case is not unique but widespread and it would be a limitation of the current release of RB, which jdoobs is looking at. If so, the only solution I see is wait for a new release to check if the issue has been resolved:(

If my diagnostic is not corect, I have no idea what to do:D

Apology appreciated & greatly excepted. :) I'm not a professional with any of this by any means, but I am one who does pay attention & try. Rookier, is that a new tech term? :D I like it, haha. Anyway, yeah, JDobbs has pointed out there are some big problems & work is being done. So, patience is the key (which I have no problem with) & shall try again. However, I haven't had the chance to examine those ideas you posted yet. Shall post the results once I have tried.

It seems I had a Init problem with DVD-RB VIP. Once my Matrix (USA) tests are done I'll try again with the RUSH DVD.

I also tried with 0.66, & 0.66a & the VTSes with more than 1 angel in them are not being left out during rebuild. So the finished output size is still 992MB. This is with CCE 2 passes.

@jdobbs

The DVD is mostly multi-ILVU MA. Dual Layer. Even with VIP 0.67, the parts that get compressed by CCE look really bad. It looks like they're done with 16 colors from 16 bit. However, even though DVD-RB isn't rebuilding the ILVU MA VTSes correctly, I finally realised to copy the missing files over to the Output path myself.
The DVD size then comes out to a good Single Layer DVD. *Sigh* So, that tells me (maybe I'm wrong or using a BAD setting?) that the part of the DVD being compressed is getting compressed more than 50% thus the output just looks like junk.

I can understand that you're not compressing any of the ILVU files because of the problems you've found with doing so, so it seems transcoding is the only option here?..but not via DVD-RB. I've been wondering about that.

Please reply & let me know if you'd pretty much come up with the same conclusion or any other ideas YOU may have. :) Thanks. Awesome program even if it WON'T handle this DVD well, hahahaha.
