OK, here's what I want to do. I want to convert HR-HDTV XviD Encodings that are in 960x528 resolution with 30 frames/sec. The audio is 5.1 AC3 as well.

The problem I have is when I encode the video to 720x480 at 29.97 frames/sec, the audio gets skewed further in.

This is using TMPGEnc 3.0 XPress. What's the proper way to encode this so the video and audio are synced correctly? I'd rather not have to redo the audio since it's already in AC-3 format.

I'm trying to fit 4 episodes of a show onto a DVD-R so I'm using VBR 2Pass to limit the video to 1000 megs and NOT re-encoding the audio. The audio is usually 115 megs. Do I have to re-encode the audio to sync it correctly with the video?

I would have thought the difference on framerates is enought to skew the audio, I personally use besweet to alter the lenght of the audio and output as 6 wave files and re-encode the ac3`s with SoftEncode and I get very good results from this.

TMPEGEnce isn`t the best with framerate conversions, maybe better to frameserve it with VirtualDubMod and set the OUTPUT framerate to 29.97 fps? (leave the source frame rate alone).
