I have two cards capable of analog capture on my HTPC: MyHD MDP-100, and FusionHDTV III Gold QAM. I ran VirtualDub and both showed up. I tried the FusionHDTV, which I understood to have better driver support, and I was able to get an image. However, I couldn't get better then 320x240 resolution (might be related to what is in the FAQ). So I decided to try to the MyHD card, which I didn't figure would work, due to the poor analog drivers.
Sure enough, when I selected it, VirtualDub crashed. I re-ran VD, figuring I'd just keep trying with the Fusion, VD crashed as soon as I selected the capture AVI menu item, but before I could choose a capture device.
I tried deleting the registry entry for VirtualDub, figuring the capture choice was in there. I had to re-OK the license agreement, but VD still crashed when I selected the capture AVI menu item.
1. Is there a way to reset the selection so I can eliminate the crash and at least capture from the FusionHDTV?
2. Is the 320x240 limit related to the FAQ and/or is there a workaround?
