i have some ogm files i want to convert to dvd format.
from searching and reading it seems that the easiest way to do this is to first convert the ogm to avi, and separating the audio, then follow the guide for converting avi to dvd.
am i on the right path or is there something easier?

I think you're on the right path. I assume you've already read this recent thread?

strangely it didnt come up in my search but i did read it just after i posted sadly.
just so i am on the right track, once i rip the ogg sound to wav, i can then convert it to ac3 and then combine picture and sound with my authoring tool?
i find the manual processes while involved seem to be a lot faster than using the automated programs, does anyone else find this?

I recommend you leave your sound in Linear PCM (.wav) format -- it's a valid audio format for DVD, and you would not gain anything by conversion to Dolby Digital. In addition, there are known problems with ac3enc.dll, and BeSweet no longer offers conversion to Dolby Digital because of them.
