my pc speck as below
amd athlon 3.0 gigg barton core
gigabyte mobo 7nnxp
kingston ddr 400 = 1024
plextor dvd rom
plextor 708a dvdrw
pioneer 108 dvdrw
q-tech dual fan 550 watt psu
radeon atlantis 9200 graphics card
7 fans also fitted

so really bugging me at mo chaps used to run cce on my old p4 2.0 gigg without any problems the speck i have above should handle easily
and like i said prob only appeared last week
any help would be very much appreciated chaps

sounds like a hardware issue i would make sure that your cpu is not overheating anything over 50 in my opinion is not good.
also make sure your voltages are stable and monititor them when under load, i am assuming you have a decent psu but if you dont then that could very well be the cause.

Its possible that your memory is faulty to chech this use this application. http://www.memtest86.com/

If you have overclocked anything then i sugest you back off your settings to the stock speeds to see if it makes any difference.

one last recomendation is that you install the latest nvidia drivers available from their website if you havent already done so. I have the latest drivers installed and have not had any stability issues.

thanks for your input m8 just checked settings and here goes

system temp=47c
cpu temp=78c this was around 54c previously
cpu fan speed=4017
system fan speed=2518
power fan speed=2376

reckon a new cpu fan could be in order

You should check to make sure your heatsink is still seated property against the CPU and on the motherboard. That temp is pretty high and *could* kill your CPU. I would suggest checking the heatsink first and if all looks fine get a better heatsink from a name brand, like Vantec or something.

na defo something else not right here fellas boought new turbo heatsink and fan today got my cpu temp down to 50 c everything in order now untill running cce again when running in task manager cpu usage goes up to 100% all of it by cce if not using cce cpu usage is 2% max and pc runs flawlessly anyone ever have similar probs and what you do to sort it

thanks guys

CCE is picky, picky, picky....if anything is unstable about your system, it (CCE) will crash. I have seen it crash on oc'ed systems in less than 20 mins that passed prime95 for 24 hours on more. To me, CCE is the stabilty test.

When running CCE, go to the task manager and set it to low priority. It is normal for it to use 100% CPU. By changing the task priority to low, you will still be able to use the machine for other things

have set it to low priority have got cce to run its full course but cpu temp even with turbo fan at full speed has gone back up to 65c
have stripped down system checked heatsink position and repasted cpu at end of tether guys what else can i do

have also dropped my fsb from 166 to 133 and temps seem to be dropping although my chip is no longer recognized as a 3.0 gigg

I don't really get what you mean on 3.0 gigg. The fastest Barton core Athlon CPU is he 3200+ which runs at 2200 MHz (2,2 GHz, 200x11).
If you have a 3000+ Barton CPU, it runs at 166x13 (2166 MHz).
Maybe you should get a better heatsink. What do you use now? Go and get a Zalman CNPS7000A(or B)-AlCu if your mainboard is on its compatibility list.

yeah thats the one m8 read thread i have bought a decent heatsink anything practical to add

Try running your memory in single channel.....I'm sure you don't want to run single channel, but try it to see if you can get through a full encode. With my old Epox 8rda+ (also an nForce2 mobo) running single channel was the only way I could keep CCE from crashing

I don't think it's the CPU. If you are sure that your heatsink is good enough to cool down your CPU, maybe you should get a thermistor (a kind of thermosensor) attached to a display and check what is the approximate real temperature under your heatsink.
I know that with some BIOS revisions the Gigabyte 7NNXP shows unbeliavebly high temperatures. Do you use the latest BIOS?
And always run your nForce AMD system synchronously. I mean the memory core clock should be the same as the FSB (166 MHz here which is 333 MHz DDR).

thanks for your advice m8 have checked the memory clock which is set to auto only other option is by spidif which automatically sets to 400mhz no option to change this

I guess that you can set it to 100% or 1:1 or whatever Gigabyte calls sync mode.
Could you find a more up-to-date BIOS version?
