Hello, I`m using tmpgenc plus 2.5 to encode some divx avis to mpeg 2.

I select the 16:9 option in the Project wizzard and go from there, I then choose Centre Custom size in the resize window and put in the scaled size, i.e original will be 640x272 resize that to 720x306, but then I have to add another 42.5% to the height to get a proper aspect ratio from the outputted file (only found out this after 8 encodes!)

Whay 42.5% extra for the height? if it was just because of the extra width of the 16:9 over 4:3 then surely it would only need to be 30% heigher?

Also the full frame keep aspect ratio option doesn`t seem to give good results at all, anyone else had probs with this?

You have to choose 4:3, not 16:9 except you want to do an anamorphic encoding.

Is there an option for anamorphic in tmpgenc, als what size for the frames, can I use the original 640x272?

Will have to have a google!

Cheers.

Is it PAL? In this case, 704x328 is correct. Is it NTSC, use 704x272. (in Center (custom size)).
Target is 4:3, 704x576/704x480 or 720x576/720x480)

Is there an option for anamorphic in tmpgenc

Yeah, if you select 16:9 as Target-AR.

Screensize for anamorpic: vertical resolution x 1.33

But your Video isn't anamorphic, so there's no use for this encoding mode.

Thanks, the source is Film, but I`ve sped it up in VirtualDub to 25fps for a final PAL output for viewing on a widscreen tv.
