Sorry guys, but I'm totally new to the DVD :(

I am fairly confident with SVCD, but I know absolutely nothing about hos to create a DVD.

I have a 2.7Gb MPEG movie on my harddrive, and I want to put it on a DVD so I can use it in my DVD player, but how do I do this?

Do I have to go through a lot of tools like when I create SVCD's? Or is there a fancy tool that does it all for me? Nero perhaps?

I do it the old fashioned way. Use Tmpeg and re encode the mpeg to DVD compliant specs.

stream type = mpeg2
aspect ratio = either 4:3 or 16:9
frame rate = 29.97
rate control mode (I like CBR, easier, VBR supposed to be better)
bitrate = depends on size of source (final file size
must be less than 4.23GB)
profile & level = MP@ML
video format = depends on your location NTSC=North America,
PAL=Europe
encode mode = non-interlace
YUV format = 4:2:0
DC component precision= 9 bits
motion search precision= motion estimate search (fast)

ON THE ADVANCED TAB make sure to choose the correct source aspect ratio setting.

Once done you can use an authoring prog to make a dvd.
depending on which prog you use, there may be more steps involved.
