I just had a visit fra a friend because he wanted help playing a movie file.
But I wasn't able to help him that's why I now turn to you guys ;)

Link for Sample Download: SAMPLE (http://s3.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=60DE11D5AE09BBD0F3D7079894000A89)

The file is a MOV file aka quicktime. The filename contains the word 3ivx hence this must be the codec used to encode. Gspot gives no info.

I tried installing the 3ivx Codec from here: http://www.3ivx.com/
and then installing Quicktime Alternative 1.35 from here: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/QuickTime_Alternative.htm

But that didn't work. UNABLE TO RENDER FILE

I then installed Quicktime Player.
That didn't work either. For some strange reason I have never been able to make this DÁMN player work. Always gives me this error:
Couldn't open the file because the file was not found

Quicktime isn't really a solution either since he really wants to be able to play it full screen and as far as i know that requeres Quicktime PRO.

I also tried converting the file with Rad Video tools. That didn't work either.

I don't care if I have to convert it. I just would really like to crack this nut

Any help would be much appreciated

Why should I by the DVD ?
I don't really care for the DIE HARD movies.

Beeing interested in Codecs and ways to encode it just really nags me not beeing able to crack this nut.

I'm not giving up until I succeed in decodeing this movie.
Not because I want to see this movie. But because I hate not beeing able to figure out how to make it work.

To be a law-abiding citizen.

It's against the rules for us to help you, since what you have is obviously a downloaded rip. You don't own the DVD and you didn't make the rip yourself, therefore it's illegal.

Anyway, your sample appears to be a portion of a multi-volume set. It can't be played without the other volume(s). My advice is to delete it.

fccHandler's last post covers the topic pretty well. The file has been downloaded, and you don't own a copy of it.

Look at the Announcement on the Noobs homepage for further clarification on what files we can issue help for.
