I do appologise for my question in my previous thread.
I did read the rules on first joining and should have checked back.
I maybe should have claified the situation even though I was still in breech of the forum rules.
I was trying to download dvd's which I do currently own but which were damaged. I wqs only seeking an easier alternative to having to buy new replacements.
Again, my appologies.

Why do You post this? Downloading DVDs from the internet is illegal. Also if You have it. There a many ways to fix this problem. Nobody must know that You do it.
I think You're from germany or austria cos of Your name 'DasReich'.
In germany it is forbitten to download DVDs from the net. This post didn't change anything.
Somebody should close this. THX.

DasReich:
I experience a lack of concentration several times each day. I'll try to avoid one of these while composing this post.
It could be said that Amnon82's comments were a little "crisp", but they were also to the point. It could also be said that my comments to you before closing your original thread on downloaded material were crisp; possibly a better explanation of the rules would have been in order to avoid the mini-confrontation that has taken place within this thread. And, obviously, if you'd had a better understanding of the rules, this conversation woudn't even be taking place. :)
While there are several sources available for the downloading of legal movie files of various kinds, we've taken the position that it's not our job to decide which downloads are legal and which are not. As soon as you mention, "I downloaded....", the legality of your source immediately becomes the focus of the thread, instead of the problem you're seeking help with. We don't try to sort out the DMCA, P2P, or the decisions handed down by any other worldwide governing body....conversion problems are the name of the game here, plain and simple. For a long time, the policy on download requests has been to issue a statement pointing to the Rules, and close the thread. Click back through several pages of the Newbies archive and look for the padlock icon at the lefthand side of a thread's title and you'll quickly find that you haven't been singled out to make an example of. Unfortunately, new members miss the Rules and the Announcement on a fairly regular basis, so being one of the newer members, this is a more common occurrence than you might think.
No strikes have been issued, no feelings are hurt beyond repair, and there could be an upside to the entire dialogue. Any Newbie that runs across this thread will certainly get an earful of what to do and not to do concerning the dreaded, "I downloaded," statement.
Post problems that we can help you with, no fair question should ever be disregarded or treated disrespectfully.
Thread closed.
