Hi all after something of a long period away from Doom9's excellent site (registered here around 2 years ago!)...anyway, a friend of mine has a DVD with three films on it...how do you suppose he ended up being able to do that?!?!
I guess the original DVD has been shrunk to something like DivX but I didn't know DVD players could read anything other than original DVD's or SVCD's?
Excuse the newb nature of these questions but i've spent hours already reading Doom's site and it gets confusing!!
Would it be as easy as creating three DivX films from DVD's of around 1GB each and using a prog to burn them to DVD-R? Menu's would also be nice :D
Thanks

you would need a DVD player that supports DivX...

Your friend may have put 3 vcd/svcd's on one DVDR using a program like DVD-LAB or similar. Most DVD's are capable of playing these.

@Jizumonkey: There is a way to encode 3DVDs to 1DVD. Thats what I doing all the time.
What You need:
A filesize Prediction Tool.
For CCE is best:
QCCE CYBEREdition found at my page (www.cydvd.tk)
For TMPGEnc is best:
QMatic found at www.kvcd.net
or QTester found at www.molevcd.de
For QuEnc and all other is best:
EasySVCD/DVD found at www.cydvd.tk
Next step is this:
You have to create a DVDRip. All files should be unencrypted stored on Your HDD. With DVD2AVI You create a D2V-File and enter the path to a easy AVS-File. Use this example for the beginning:
# Created with EasySVCD/DVD 0.61 - visit: www.cydvd.tk
LoadPlugin("C:\Programme\ESD\D2V\DGDecode.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\Programme\ESD\D2V\grip.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\Programme\ESD\VSRip\VSFilter.dll")
mpeg2source("Enter here the path to Your AVS-File")
GripCrop(704, 576, source_anamorphic=TRUE, dest_anamorphic=false)
GripSize(resizer="BicubicResize")
GripBorders()
Then You have to use the tools to setup the encoder and do the prediction. Read the guides on the sites of each program to understand how it works.
EasySVCD/DVD is realy easy. You only have to use the GUI to do the prediction. Use FreeEnc for better Quality. CyDVD 2.o EX will give You the best results.
Hope this helps You.
