hi, i have a video file that have no subtitle and i added the subtitle using virtualdub, then i use TmpgEnc Express to convert to mpg format, but for the file that is about 1 hour and 30 min, but the Express read it for 5 hour video, which takes about a day to convert the file. is there a way to make Express read the file for 1hours and 30 min instead 5 hours. maybe i did something wrong in virtualdub? Hopefully that is not to confusing. Thank.

Try to export the Audio-Part in WAV-Format and use this WAV as Audio-Source in TMPGEnc.

You need to alter a setting in the OPTION / ENVIRONMENTAL SETTINGS / VFAPI Plugin, set Direct Show Multimedia File Reader to the highest priority (2) and load the AVI again. This solved my problems with incorrect avi times shown in TMPGEnc.

keithmac, on the setting are you talking about virtualdub, because i don't see that setting anywhere.

The setting is in TMPGEnc, I noticed you are using the Express version 3.0? In my Options /Preferences / Input plug-in setting, "Direct Show Multimedia File Reader" is the only option checked in the VFAPI plugin priority order, at the bottom of the window.

Maybe worth setting yours like this to test? if it comes up with the correct lenght in Media Player then this setting should correct the time display in Xpress 3.
