View Full Version : GraphEdit with ffdshow...

Hey all... I have 3 questions.

1.) I've followed the Stereo to 5.1 DPLII upmix guide (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=57736). I was just wondering if it would increase audio quality if I converted the stereo file before input from 16-bit to 24-bit or 32-bit?

2.) I've used the method above. Now I want to be able to create a LFE channel within GraphEdit, so I don't have to then take that and extract the channels and create a LFE then create the 6 channel wav again. Is there a way to do this using a filter such as AC3 Filter, MatrixMixer, ffdshow, or any other way via GraphEdit?

3.) I've downloaded the latest ffdshow. As I told above I use the Stereo to 5.1 upmix guide. I looked under 'Output Options' and it apparently has AC3 output. I've tried to connect it in GraphEdit with the method above and it fails (3 finger salute necessary). Is there a way to connect all of them up (using DPLII method upmixing) and output directly to AC3?

Thanks!
Josh

Okay... I have now another question...

4.) With MatrixMixer is it possible to take a Stereo source and upmix it using the Dolby Prologic II matrix (LFE included)?

I was looking at this (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=27936) thread when I had the idea.

Thanks!
Josh

it will just be like the original dolby surround, with no channel steering, and i don't think converting to 24 or 32bit will make a difference, regaredless of what other say.

Okay Thanks for your reply!

That clears a couple things up! Now I just need to know if it is possible to create an LFE channel (low-pass).

You can redirect bass with AC3Filter IIRC.
