Hi,

Me and a friend have been struggling with a very wierd problem. It is as follows.

When opening up your preferred media player (IE windows media player), The movie quality is dark and reddish, almost as if the contrast is out of whack, HOWEVER, with the same player, we open another instance of the playback and the 2nd instance is perfect quality!

We have tried with numerous different players, using all the defaults. We have also tried encoding with the latest version of Divx (v5.2) and no luck.

We encode using auto-gordian knot (gordian knot v28.8), and divx 5.05.

Please help.
Laterz.

Make sure your video driver settings (expecially overlay settings) are not messed up.

Are you referring to Nvidia Drivers settings??

please give some specifics.

Thanks for the reply.

If your video card is an Nvidia card, then yes, look at your driver settings and perhaps download and install the latest driver. The reason Sharktooth recommends checking overlay settings is that only one overlay window is allowed on screen; your second, correctly running instance is running in non-overlay mode.

You might also want to try a different player -- the original WMP 6.4 (mplayer2.exe) is included with every windows version -- and you may also want try one of the many windows players available for download from Doom9's main website.

kewl.

By the way, we have tried many different players, and same prob.

But let me give the settings a quick looking over and I will let you know.

later.

Since you seem to be having a video related problem, rather than anything codec related, I'm moving this to the PC HW/SW forum.
