i encoded a divx3 video file to mpeg2 svcd format using tmpgenc. the resulting mpeg file has no audio. i used g-spot to see if i have all the codecs needed; and all video and audio codecs needed are already installed.
source divx3 file:
DivX 3 Low-Motion
MPEG-1 Layer 3
video codec already installed:
DivX ;-) MPEG-4 Low-Motion
DivX MPEG-4 DVD Video Decompressor
audio codec already installed:
Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 Codec (professional)
MPEG Layer-3 Decoder
please help....

Have a look and see if the audio is encoded using CBR or VBR, chances are it's VBR audio.
If it's VBR you should use VDubmod to strip it out to a .wav file, then reencode it to CBR.
This has worked for me in the past when TMPGenc fails to pick up the audio properly. I have noticed that it is always VBR audio that causes the problem in my case.
Hope this helps.

thanks for the fast reply, geoffman! :D
i tried it... used virtualdub to create a wav file, used the wav file as audio source in tmpgenc. but the video and the audio are out of sync.
the video and audio seems to be in sync in the early part of mpeg, but as it play on, the audio and video gap seems to be getting bigger. since the audio video gap isnt constant, i dont think the audio gap correct option in the source range of tmpgenc is going to correct the problem.
any other suggestions?

You still have a VBR .Wav (sort of), you need to re-encode the ripped .wav file to CBR with vdub or vdubmod, this should fix it up for you. :)
