Dolby Digital Plus and dts++ have both been selected for HD-DVD AND Blu-Ray both have optional ability dts lossless although HD-DVD will support MLP Lossless

I was rather disappointed to see this in doom9's news, since these are all proprietary, highly patented formats = high licensing fees and discouragement of open-source libraries (anyone notice that DTS inc. has at least temporarily stopped the distribution of libdts).

The DVD forum is really acting incompetent in this matter - SACD and DVD-Audio have proven that proprietary formats + high DRM are a bad combination for the success of a new format.
