O.K. Post #1. Been reading the forums for a couple of weeks, so I
hope I've learned a couple of things. But I'm not finding much on DL burning. After all, it is pretty new, isn't it? Anyway, I recently bought a NEC 3500AG burner, (Stole it for $78.00 from newegg!) then
paid $39.99 for a 3 pac of Verbatim DL discs from microcenter.
Anyway, with the cost of these discs, I can't afford to make any frisbees out of them. What I would like to do is back up 2 of the
movies from my collection on 1 DL disc. My first thought was "Kill Bill, VOL. 1&2" , however, after running them through Shrink, both come out at 4.35GB. Can I reauthor and remove some extras, and then be able to burn both movies back to back with Shrink, or is there a better way? All but the simpleist one-click copying is new to me,
:o so please be kind and help.

U can move both movies in the same dl disk complete with their menus and extras, but this is a couple of miles ahead.
For now mount both images of Kill Bill, lets say with Deamon tools
Open Shrink and go to Re-author mode
Drag and drop both main movies to the left window and if u like a couple of extras. Depending ofcourse from the size of the main features and the compression they r talking about.
Hit Backup and it will make a new images containing the movie part u have selected.
U can burn the image either with Nero, or my choise with decrypter.
Remember to change the default size of the image for shrink to 8.36gb.
Here (http://www.doom9.org/mpg/dvdshrink31-mmo.htm) u can find the Main Movie Guide for dvd-shrink and in the Guides section of the site some more. Have fun and I ll be here should you encounter any problem.

Well, I've managed to get both movies down to reasonable size, into
1 file, reauthered with shrink, thought I'd go ahead and let shrink handle it and send it to burn with Nero, and it kicked open my drive drawer, giving me an error message of invalid media!!! (said the disc in the drive was a cd -R instead of a DVD+R DL !!!) Wondering if Verbatim had ripped me off with a mislabeled disc, I ran my
DVD identifier program, it read as it should. DVD+R DL, Mitsubishi-etc
What Gives??? Anyhow, figured I'd try and take Odysess' advice and burn it with decrypter...but I've never burnt from a file on the harddrive using decrypter before and can't seem to find the guide:confused: Could someone please point me there so I don't have to ask any more dumb questions? (Hopefully, decrypter won't think my my DVD DL is CD-R)lol

hi hrdwreman and welcome to the forum,
MackemX wrote a guide on how to merge 2 DVD's keeping fully functional original menu's, here (http://www.deano.dsl.pipex.com/dvdremake/guides/merging/add_vmg_menu_pgc.htm). it uses DVD Remake Pro which unfortunately is not freeware.
as for burning with DVDDecrypter please check the guides at Doom9.org, as it depends whether you have a folder with your files in it (i suggest you use ImgTool classic to create an iso image) then use DVDDecrypter to burn the .iso image
cheers

Maybe Nero can't really identify the disk as DL and defaults to CD instead, or there is some setting u have to do to Nero in advance.
This file that shrink created is it an iso image?
What is its size?
Try to burn it with decrypter.

Thanks, all, for the advice. Sorry i haven;t responded sooner, but mhy hrddrive did a crash ad burn on me,and its been a real pain trying to recover what i could, and replace so much lost software. Made sure to back things up better this time though.
Anyway, when i got my email back up and running, i found a reply to one i sent my frienrs at Fenago software i did some beta testing with thm about a year ago on DVD Fab, and they kindly sent me an upgraded version,2.2, witch handled evrything beautifly.if you'd like to try it, they're offering a 30 day free trial at
