Hello,

I know your authoring software will handle layer breaks if it supports dual layer. What I want to do is encode a file in TMPGEnc Plus 2.5 that will be around 8.5Gb. Currently, the wizard (only used to check disc space) only goes up to 4.7Gb. Is there a template that will let you change the media type on the last page of the wizard to DVD 8.5Gb? If not, will TMPGEnc even let you encode a file that big? I wanted to ask before I try it as it would probably take me at least 24 hours to test that.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Also, I've heard that TMPGEnc has its own forum somewhere, but I haven't found it on their official site.

Thanks.

Hello Mythos. As far as I know, TMPEG can create a file larger than 4.7GB. If you don't use the wizard, your output file size will be in proportion to your bitrate (i.e. higher bitrate=larger file size)
Also, the forum for TMPEG is part of the Doom9 Forum array.

Thanks trapvector,

I'm glad that it should work. I never actually encode with the wizard. I just use it to check filesizes. I plan to use a bitrate calculator and just input those figures into TMPGEnc Plus. I still have to capture my footage before I can do the rest, but I do know it is a little over 2 hours worth.

Thanks again.

File size is determinate on resolution, bit rate( ok frame rate as well) and in my experiences quality( if you use the constant quality).
I capped The Core the other day(2hrs 10min) and had to set the res at 352*576 to fit. I wouldn't use the wizard to calculate the resulting file size as it uses CBR( I'd recomend VBR). If you are planning on a dual layer disk, I think @ even the highest quality you'll have space( the Film Ali is 2hrs 30mins and takes about 7Gb).
