how to make dvds

Are there any programs that can convert avi or mpeg files to dvd compatible files that will play on a standerd dvd player so that when I insert the dvd disc into a dvd player it will auto play without any menus coming up I have seen some films that have the vod files in a folder called VIDEO_TS.

I did have a program called x-oom dvd creator but for some reason when I try to install it after a reformat of windows it now deletes my cdrw and dvdrw drive.

In fact there r a lot of programs that can do what u need.

If you own a dvd-r burner, one must has been bundled with it and will take your avi files, encode them and create the dvd structure ready to be burnt.

I did have nero bunddled with my dvd rw drive but if I try to convert a 1.3gb MPEG file to dvd it says it will take about 4 hours to compleate and it also makes them bigger than 4.7gb so thay wont fit a standard 4.7gb disc.

Is there any other programs that will convert the files in less time than nero.

The You have to choose the way You wanna go.

Freeware or Payware.

For Freeware there are some Encoder and DVDAuthor outside.

For Encoding to MPEG2 You can use this:

NuEnc by Peter Cheat
EasySVCD/DVD by Amnon82 (it's me. This Programm is a Prediction Programm for FreeEnc and QuEnc to get the right filesize).

Then You need a AudioEncoder. Take this:

And of course a DVDAuthor. Take this:
