View Full Version : DVD Decrypter & DVDx Problem

Sometimes I will use DVD Decrypter to rip the vobs to the hard drive so I can encode with DVDx and still use my DVD-ROM (sadly my only cd drive). I have done it many times but recently ran into some problems.

I will rip the DVD with no problem with DVD Decrypter. Then when I go to open up the IFO in DVDx it goes through the normal input settings and then it will start the movie 10-15 seconds from the beginning. It will actually show on the time counter how far it has skipped.

Now for what I know (at least what I think I know). I know that the movies are being ripped fine because I can open the vobs in PowerDVD and it starts at the beginning. I can also open the files in AutoGK and it will start at the beginning, but I don't like using the AutoGK software (I just think I get a better quality rip from DVDx). But DVDx will start ahead that 10-15 seconds.

Just for info my DVD Decrypter version is 3.1.3.0 and DVDx is 2.3. And the movies I tried to rip are "The Mask" and "Contact". Oh and if I do Open DVD Root it will start at the beginning.

I would really like to figure this out because it saves me time ripping these movies this way. Thanks in advance for any help.

rip the dvd in iso mode, mount the dvd with deamon tools, see if the problem persists :)

this way you can still use your real drive and let dvdx rip from a virtualdrive deamon tools created!

check the DvdDecryptor settings and make sure you have relevant "Patch M2V Timecode (00:00:00:00)" ticked. that should fix the not starting from the start. DVDx is not the only program that suffers from that problem, xmpeg does aswell for example. :)

no there is no problem doing that method.

I checked for that option and it wasn't in my version so I downloaded the latest version, but it still doesn't work. And I was mistaken in The Mask it start 50 seconds ahead and Contact starts 15 seconds ahead.

I would but then I can't play Doom3 because of protection built into the game with virtual drives.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

rip in ifo mode if you are not already and then try opening the ifo. the only dvds i have that had that problem were fine when ripped that way with the patch option on.

if that doesnt work for yours then you can just go from dvd and in input settings use hd buffering and set that to a larger size(say 1000mb). then DVDx will rip 1000mb to hd and process that so no constent access to your dvd drive etc.
