Hi guys,
I've searched several forums for anyone with a similar problem to this, with no success. I hope someone can help out. :)
Basically, I have a 700MB .avi file which I want to convert to .mpg for the purpose of putting it to VCD. However, when I try this, I get an error from Windows XP telling me that TMPEG has encountered a problem, and that it has to close. Thus, I can't get an error log from TMPEG.
Thinking that perhaps the .avi file had an error, so I ran VirtualDub & checked it for errors. Nothing was found. So I tried to re-save the .avi file using VirtualDub, but when I tried to encode this re-saved file, I also got the same error.
I also - as per suggestion at www.videohelp.com - went to Options/Enviromental Settings/VFAPI plugin, and changed the Directshow Multimedia file reader to priority 2. This didn't help either!
The strange thing is, I tried to encode 15secs worth of the video, to see if the error occurred with a much shorter portion of the video. There were no errors when I encoded this small portion of the file, which makes me think that perhaps TMPEG is having problems with the size of the original .avi.
Anyway, I'm at my wit's end...if anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them. :)
Thanks guys,
Brian
