I don't know TMPGEnc Express, but TMPGEnc Plus 2.5 can not open VOB files. You should use DVD2AVI or DGMPGDec to get a d2v and wav files from your VOB files, then you will be able to convert them.
But as I said, correct me if I am wrong with TMPGEnc Express.
Greetings! :)

download Besweet and it's front end to convert the ac3 to regular
PCM wave file. Then use that in tmpgenc.

Even if you were to get it to work using the ac3 filter,
you may not be happy with the results.
If you wanted just to use tmpgenc you should have said so explicitly. You got the answers you got because people with more
experience than you know what works.

davexnet you are jumping into conclusions
ac3 filter?
i never said anything about ac3filter
ac3acm is a totall different thing
please if you cannot help let others with more experience than you do the job.
it is obvious after all that you're lacking of experience

Easy guys... :D
breakbeatsz: Could you please tell me how to open VOB files directly with TMPGEnc?
Because I didn't find the way. What I only know is using DVD2AVI or DGMPGDec.
Greetings!

On the top menu you can set your environment. For a seperate audio encoder you have to specify it there. Is your audio decoder listed under the codecs/filters in tmpg?

You can open the first VOB ok, but subsequent ones will have a problem( like no sound) because they are linked using references in the ifo files. Secondly TMPEnc won't encode AC3 untill you BUY the plugin that works in DVD Author. Thirdly if you have DVD Author you can import DVD and tick the save to hard disk bit( making sure the source& destination sizes are the same) resulting in a MPEG2 file with AC3 sound.
