Hi,
I'm a newbie in this forum so please be gentle :)

Could somebody please explain (in details) how to convert some Dolby Surround encoded stereo tracks in MPA to Dolby Digital 5.1? Unfortunately a simple conversion to Dolby Digital 2.0 wont do since my AC-3 decoder (integrated in DVD/MPEG4 player) treats Dolby Digital 2.0 tracks - with Dolby Surround info - as ordinary stereo tracks. So I get no sound in my rears and center speaker(s).

Cheers,
Peter

Hi Peter,

Welcome to the forum. Although a number of the methods described in this forum would provide you with some interesting results, I would say your situation is a natural for the method outlined in the thread "Guide: 2- to 5-channel upmix using Dolby Pro Logic II (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=57736)." Although it was written with the idea of converting 2-channel stereo to 5.1, it should work very well for handling Dolby Surround material.

Regards,
Steve.

Thanx for the link. I tried this guide but I ran into the following problem:
- Right click the InterVideo Audio Processor Fx filter > Filter Properties... > 6 SPEAKERI can't select anything but the 2 speaker option. I do have a 5.1 channel soundcard (Terratec Aureon Sky). I used WinDVD 6.0.

Any suggestions?

I do Have WinDVD 2000 (old version) that came bundled with a DVD-ROM drive. I doubt the 6 speaker option is available there either.
