I jsut recently installed a Manhattan KVM manual switch and the video displaying on the monitor is a little off, as in the edges of things especially text appears to shadow multiple times, or ghosting u can call it or echoing video.

If anybody knows what i am talking about, do you know the cause of this and how to fix it?
Thanks.

ty lowering the screen resolution and refresh-rate.

I'll try it but i run a geforce4 ti4600 at 1024x768 at 85Hz and tried at 60hz and seen no major difference.

The refresh rate change the "problem" a little but not totally but i'll try res changing.

ok, switched to 960 x 600 with 60hz refresh and about 90% of it is gone so mostly unnoticable.

The higher the res, the worse it got and same with refresh, well thanks for solution, now i just have to get used to this.

On a side note, what causes this, the switch box itself or the cables being used?

whatever it is, how do you know what its res capabilities are before purchasing?

This can be caused by the switch or the cables, but i've heard that the cables are the problem more often than not. Basically the problem is the bandwidth of the cable or the switch is being exceeded. A better quality switch/cable will usually have more analog bandwidth available, allowing it to handle higher refresh rates and resolutions.
You are not likely to find information about the resolution/refresh limits on cables when you buy them because it depends on the strength of the signal being sent through the cable, and the total length of cables being used. Many switches will give a rating on the package as to what resolution and refresh rates they support, or there may be information available from the manufacturer or on the internet that will help determine the general max the switch supports.
