View Full Version : NuMenu4u RC1 Build 2
Zeul
13th September 2004, 23:07
New Build available.
Changelog as follows:
Enhancements:
Log file now saved to working directory
Check for corrupt ifo's that would lead to various update
errors
If a cell is reused across different PGC and the PGC have
different colour palettes then a default palette is used in
scenarist and the appropriate palette transferred back into
the PGC on updating
Option to set the default output to either drive root or My
Documents
Ability to re-encode stills - useful for when doing a major
alteration [this is not intended to be used to reduce the
file size so the bitrate has been preset]
CCE is now run in batches of 75 which increases encode time
Special builds [designed for NuMenu4u & future builds of
Doitfast4u] of vsrip & vsconv now included. Special thanks
to D3s7 for his work on these files.
Because of these new builds the sub and button highlights
are very accurate
DvdDecrypter is now only run once , and if absolutely
necessary a second time for cellid demux
If more than 50% of a video stream has dummy cells then
these cells are removed
Major size reduction of script - Every command is analysed
and only the title details
necessary for correct linking are now included in the
scenario. Faster import results
Option to use SoftEncode as the default Wav to AC3 converter
Because of a SoftEncode bug on some Operating Systems
ability to test for stability is included in the Audio
Options. If SoftEncode is unstable then the fix is to delete
the registry entries and will be enabled automatically
Option to fix crc audio errors
Browseforfolder now used for save folder. If the chosen
folder is not empty then the folder will be deleted
A new debug ability is now available. If NuMenu4u fails or
the result is not correct, selecting the debug screen will
enable you to send me the files needed to fix. NuMenu4u will
select the files required, zip them up and e-mail them to
me. The e-mail will not use your default client.
GUI now includes progress bars
Bug Fixes:
Wav files were not being demuxed
Rewrite of sst routines
Error fixed when there were no subs in a VTS
Correction of button command for when VTS=0
Correction to SUB/AUDIO command when set by GPRM
Alteration to GOP details in the ECL file
Checking for Scenarist is now run only once not every time
NuMenu4u is opened
Major fix to the settings being saved correctly
Correction to StillOff UOP - this was always set to off
Changes:
Avisynth settings now independant of main settings
Quantizer settings in CCE are now in Quality settings; as
this can be important and does not affect encoding time
After compile the temp files are no longer moved. These
files do not affect the bitrate calcs in doitfast4u. This
option has been removed
Delaycut is now used instead of delaycorrector
For accuracy the latest build of DvdDecrypter should be used
The installer has been zipped up with some other files. Run the bat file to begin installation.

Enjoy (I hope!)

Edit: Sorry if anyone read this, this latest version of NuMenu4U RC2 actually solved my button selection delay for Kill Bill 2! RC1 gave me a problem with the button selection--delay. Thanks Zeul for a great program!
And I think it was my Daemon Tools that was messed up, it still isn't working right now, I get a "ASPI for Windows not available!" error when I try to play in PowerDVD...stupid SP2! :devil:

I guess I spoke too soon once again ;) The DVD plays fine on my computer, but I burnt it to a DVD and tried playing on my Playstation 2 (the only dvd player I have here) and it goes through the FBI warnings in the beginning and then gives me a "disk read error" right after those warnings. The only thing I can think of is that the project was a little larger (4.37 GB) than what I usually get (4.35-4.36 GB). However the DVD still burnt fine and the burnt DVD itself plays fine on my computer. Weird. I hope I can get this straightened out cause the menu is like 330 MB and after NuMenu4U its only 22 MB!
I did a backup of another disc a couple days ago and ran NuMenu4u on that one too, burnt the DVD and it played fine on my PS2. Same process, same disc type. Any ideas? Thanks

Hi
thx 4 a new version of your great programm Zeul :)
Only when I start numenu4u the fist time I get an error message, is that normal?
error message:
Procedure Name: Item
Module Name: Temp_Settings
Error Number: 5
Error Description: Invalid procedure call or argument
Error Source: ErrorHandler
Error Line: 5
Call Stack:
Item --> Temp_Settings
MsgWaitObj --> NewShell
ShellAndWait --> Main_Functions
SetScenarist --> MainForm
Reset --> Log
Form_Load --> MainForm
Main --> Main_Functions
My 2nd problem is that I have a movie with a still menu (ca. 10mb).
I set no re-encode and only import script to get a look at it on scenarist but it won't do it because the menu is "undersize".
Can a option added to disable the "undersize" function when no re-encode is selected?
Or is it my fault, did i overread something?
thx

@ Darklistener,
if i understand you correctly you can change the minimum threshold to less than 10 MB in the default tab settings. you will also need to select the 'No Re-encoding, create script only' option in this same tab.
@ Darklistener and Justn
not sure if this is related, but i found that i had to un-install previous versions of NuMenu4U prior to executing the .bat file and installing the new version to get everything working correctly. if you have alreday tried this, then sorry but the errors are beyond my understanding of the program

Hi Jel thx 4 your answer.
I tried what you said but my problem is still there.
I have installed this numenu4u version on a new system there was no other numenu4u version installed yet.
Zeul
20th September 2004, 11:54
@Darklistener
As jel said, setting your minimum threshold to process as 0mb in default tab, reload. If your menu though is not a still but a very short video clip, then you will need to set minimum frames to process (under encoder tab) to 1. This will ensure that every asset is processed and not skipped.
@Justn
Thats a new one for me. I may have overlooked some of the errorhandlers for that function. Will check.
Darklistener
20th September 2004, 18:02
Thx Jel, Zeul
I changed the minimum frames settings under encoder and it worked

hey zuel,
i have no idea if this is related to Darklistener's or Justn's errors but i was using dvddecrypter to image an iso onto my hard drive when i started NuMenu4U and i received this error:
Procedure Name: scanifo
Module Name: MainForm
Error Number: 5
Error Description: Invalid procedure call or argument
Error Source: Project1
Error Line: 49
Call Stack:
scanifo --> MainForm
LoadTreeViewFromFile --> MainForm
scanfolderforinput --> MainForm
vtsxx_click --> MainForm
combo1_Click --> MainForm
sListAllDrives --> Main_Functions
Reset --> Log
Form_Load --> MainForm
Main --> Main_Functions
so maybe it is related to other apps that are open that are required by NuMenu?
just a thought ...
Zeul
21st September 2004, 14:32
@jel
I presume that the iso was still being created by DVDDec whilst NuMenu4u had started. On opening it automatically scans the drives, this would include the ROM drive also. Maybe because DVDDec was using the drive NuMenu4u was 'locked' out.
jel
22nd September 2004, 06:22
zuel,
yes dvddecypter was still in the process of writing the iso image when i started NuMenu (which i must add is not something i regularly do). i wasnt sure if there was anything to the error i received from this action, and the other errors that were reported here?
i have to also add, that apart from the 'problem' menu i emailed you about, NuMenu4U has been working flawlessly for me.
thanks for all of your hard work, it is very much appreciated.
cheers

Hi ,
i would like to request something here. I am using numneu4u just for demuxing my menus and for scenearist script...i dont want to encode it.
But as u will be aware that "Dont Rencode" options in your program dont have a saved settings , that means i cannot save that setting and let always the numenu4u to not rencode my menus .
If it is possible to fix that option and let it be saved would really solve my many problems...
I hope to see a prompt reply .
Regards
Zeul

Dvd@Best
I can accomodate you on this. This is a feature that I didn't originally want saved, becuase if it was used as a test, it could easily be forgotten about. However, I will make the change but i will probably add some sort of warning into the LOG screen; maybe :D
BTW out of interest what are you doing with the menus that would not require a re-encode (or is it just for dummy vob removal, or language removal?)
Bilbo69

@Zeul:
concerning your question to DVD@Best, I will answer for myself :-o
I extensively use this feature when I want to completly reauthor a DVD. This way, Numenu produces the "skeleton" of the script with all the navigation logic of the DVD, and I "just" have to add missing parts of the script from the one produced by Scenaid.
I then have a complete control of how I want to modify the DVD to fit my needs.
Darklistener

Hi
Why dont change the "not a saved setting" text to "save this setting" and a option to (un)check it.
Don't know if this is too much work or so its just an idea I had.
This version is really great all menus I tried worked fine.
Thx 4 the great programm Zeul

I am reauthring everything from scratch
and i dont see any app which can be as good as numenu4u for menus ...remaking
But if u think it will not benefit to all others , then u can just modify it and send it to me , i am not meant to be selfish here , but just trying to throw my idea.
Waiting for your prompt rely.

I'm getting an AviSynth error "Mpeg2source: cannot open file".
What version of DVD2AVI does the .d2v file use? It appears to be the new 1.03 version, but the mpeg2dec3.dll file installed with NuMenu appears to be an older version which isn't compatible with that format.
I don't see anyone else having this problem, so perhaps it's a problem with my system?
Zeul

@wmansir
hmm never seen that before. NuMenu4u uses RC5 build and a special build by RB. Both versions are compatible with Mpeg2dec3dg.dll AFAIK.

OK, I found the problem. Because I had an older version installed the .avs scripts were setup to use "....\NuMenu\new.avs\Mpeg2dec.dll" which is the old version of Mpeg2Dec3. As you know, it should use "...\NuMenu\new.d2vavi\Mpeg2decdg.dll".

Success! This is the first version since the original release (using IFOEdit) to work for me. I just did the new Star Wars: A New Hope R1, 585MB menu -> 222MB. I'm not going to say it looks JUST as good, but it's pretty close, much better than any transcoder could manage and it works 100% correctly.
Good work, Zeul.

are your dvds getting old and scratched up as we speak? dump them on your hard drive and wait till the next version. It will be out when it's ready. it's not like you paid Zeul to write a custom program for you.

ermmm ... not meaning to sound argumentative but as far as 'fixes' go, its not exactly on the top of the list (i would not imagine), as the feature is there, as is, all you need to do is select the option each time you run numenu4u.
i cannot imagine that this would be holding up the process of you making back-ups of your continually degrading dvds.
btw i am also interested in why you are only interested in menu creation in scenarist without re-encoding?

I can't seem to get NuMenu4U to finish processing. I have "Import, Compile, Close" selected under Scenarist, but it only does the actual importing. Scenarist just sits there and NuMenu4u looks like it has about 10% more to go on the progress bar. This is all with Scenarist 2.7 by the way.
I switched to Scenarist 3.0 to see if I could get different results but NuMenu4u has Scenarist 3.0 grayed out under the "Scenarist" tab. Don't know what's going on.

The_Flash
to recognise the new version of Scenarist you will have to manually run the 'Automate_Scenarist.exe' located in the NuMenu4U prgram folder.
by the sounds of things you have an import or compile error happening with this menu.
you could try setting it to import only, checking the import tab in scenarist for any errors, then compiling manually and seeing if any errors occur - if there are you can post them here or use the debug function of numenu4u.
D3s7
29th September 2004, 05:22

No :) (Sorry, my fault)
Scenarist import all data. A popup comes up with import ok. The I have to do the "job" manually (setting flag and start compile)
After compiling, "compile finished" pops up.
Aftwerwards nothing happen again and I can quit Scenarist via Task Manager and Numenu4u runs thru the other processes.
The problem is after importing and compiling.
Should do: import,compile,close automaticly
Is doing: import, no compile, no closing after manual compile.

Hi Zeul.
I am trying to compress the menu on Star Wars: A New Hope DVD and NuMenu4u does not open Scenarist 2.6, import the script, and compile it and I have this option checked in NuMenu4u.
NuMenu4u just says "complete" and no errors pop up.

The 1st time I used "NuMenu4u RC1 Build 2", it works perfectly.
But with the second DVD I had an error. It happened at the Scenarist part.
In fact NuMenu was using the PREVIOUS path to open the *.SCP (the path of the former movie I reenc.).
And it's really strange beccause the path used by NuMenu to save the *.scn, in the very same window, was correct.
So I closed NuMenu4u after this error, and relaunched it (SAME PATH).
And this time all worked perfect.
Appart this little problem, for me this NuMenu4u works really really really good.
Thanks a lot.
