I have two movies now that seems to have had either the color conversion wrong on the BG (color 4) palate. Do I have a setting out of place somewhere. Using DF4U, and reauthorist and scenarist 2.7. I know how to maually fix each subtitle in scenarist one at a time. But how can I change them all together in scenarist? Is there a way. And is their a setting out of place on one of my apps. that's causing this mishap in the first place??

Aahhaa... I did not find this in my search. I used reauthorist not scenaid w/ dif4u. However I just recently installed a new version of scenaid and remembering it suggesting an install of new vsrip / vsconv. Not only did it install it in sceneaid folder but also did it in DIF4U's folder also! (I looked at the install date on the file info. Same date and time in each folder.) So there it is!!

The scenarist info is very helpful also...Thanks!

One more thing, you know if the subtitle synching issue with Scenarist 3+ ever resolved yet?

RA will never address the subtitle issue w/ Scenarist 3.0 unfortunatly as it requires code changes

Scenaid does it properly now though.

Thanks d3s7...

Only reason I use reauthorist is because I can take out previews etc. before encoding and it's easy to stick with what I know. Don't remember scenaid doing this. Or does scenaid make dummy files if I uncheck them in DIF4U? Can you save me the research on this so I don't get bugged for being on the computer too much? (Sure a lot of you guys know where I'm coming from on this)

Also, you know if there's an update to the vsrip/vsconv issue yet??

Or does scenaid make dummy files if I uncheck them in DIF4U?if you uncheck a VTS in DIF4U it does not get processed (re-encoded). therefor it remains exactly as the original in your back-up.
if you uncheck a pgc within a vts in DIF4U then Scenaid will accurately generate a dummy for this file.
Also, you know if there's an update to the vsrip/vsconv issue yet?? this issue is resolved in the latest build of Scenaid if you select 'use original palette' in the subtitle import.
i am unaware of what effect this has on scripts generated by ReAuthorist as i no longer use it.

if you uncheck a VTS in DIF4U it does not get processed (re-encoded).
Right, I understand this. But there are times I want to remove an entire VTS (or at least all the content) to free up space for the rest of the DVD. (I hate it when you have to watch movie trailers and Seinfield promos before you finally get to the menu). I can't just remove the VTS because of any pointers that may be referring to it, so I would usually process everything then un check in reauthorist, creating dummys for any references to that VTS. Otherwise, I would have to learn more about authoring in Scenarist. Am I going about this procedure the wrong way?

if all you are removing is annoyance factor promos etc, you could post process with any number of tools to remove these from your back-up.
check out the ifo/vob editors forum, in particular the cheatsheets from 2cool.
you will not gain any huge savings in space by deleting them though, so your bit-rate will not be greatly affected.
if you plan on removing more than this from your back-up, then i'm afraid that it is not supported by the 'big 3' programs, and if you wish to pursue this, then, yes, you will have to learn a little more about the process and how to use scenarist .... although this could never be a bad thing ;)
