How can I add a region definition?

I have one or those, rare cases, DVD players that don't play region free DVDs, and that leads me to the question... how can I add the region definition with IfoEdit? Is it possible?

There are many ways to do this. Here's one. Open your DVD with PgcEdit and go to Utilities > Region code. Check what you want and then OK to set. Save your DVD (Ctrl+S). ;)

To answer your question using IfoEdit, it is possible and not user friendly. You would have to go to VIDEO_TS.IFO / VMGM_MAT and input a specific RC mask.

VMG Category, Regional Code mask 0
Region: 1 enabled.
Region: 2 enabled.
Region: 3 enabled.
Region: 4 enabled.
Region: 5 enabled.
Region: 6 enabled.
Region: 7 enabled.
Region: 8 enabled.

You can also set Region codes in DVD Shrink. After selecting Backup!, go to DVD Region Tab.

Thanks... I knew that one on DVDShrink but it makes me go through another expensive (time) step...

Honestly? I think you would have to burn it and test it. Maybe someone else thinks different?

Anyways, here's another thing to keep in mind. If you had used DVD Decrypter to rip in region free, it not only checked for all regions but went through the IFOs looking for RCE commands and edited those too. Read PgcEdit Region code dialog on this matter.

e.g.

1.Pre Command Set GPreg<0> mov SPreg<player region code> [61 00 00 00 00 94 00 00]

Since this is done secretly in the background, you wouldn't know it was there unless you compared it to the original. You would have to re-edit everything back to the way it was on the ripped IFO as to the original. That would be time consuming and it would be feasible in the future, in your case, to uncheck region free when ripping to avoid this.

If you want a great way to find the command above, use PgcEdit search. input a "sprm(20". Note: PgcEdit can also work on your DVD in your DVD drive too.

Thank you for your answer... the checking issue was my "questioning spirit" speaking :) 'cause if I burn the DVD on a DVD/rw and it works the check is made for it self, isn't it? - retoric question :p
