Hello I looked for this and could not find any help. I have two sony dvd changers. The changers work great, but they read info from the text data manager, and put in the name of the movie, I have a lot of backup copies of movies and would like to be able to put the movie name in, on the disk when I make it. This savies lots of time, and editing on the changer, which does not keep all I type in but does keep the name if it is in the text data manager information. Also the changer puts in a thumbnail picture of the movie jacket, I have no idea where it get this picture, or how to put it in.
Any help would be great
thank you

Try looking into TitleWriter (http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=39486&highlight=titlewriter). ;) Download link in first post.

You may set the "DVD-Text General Name" (used by the Sony players) and the "DVD-Text Movie Name" with PgcEdit, too.
To show the thumbnail, you need to add some little pictures encoded in MPEG2 in a special folder on the DVD. I know there are explanations on this somewhere, but can't remember where...

Titlewriter, seemed to be the best to use. On the saving a pictures as a mpeg2 for the thumbnail, or splash screen, I have used tmpg for most of my conversions, but not sure how to do just a picture to the right format.
any help on that
thanks

any help on that I think there's a thread around talking about jacket pictures specs.
EDIT: Read here (http://www.calvid.com/dvd/jacket_picture.pdf). I believe your thumbnail is the small picture.
In my Fellowship of the Ring DVD, I have a Jacket_P folder with these
J00_5L.MP2 124 KB
J00_5M.MP2 14 KB
J00_5S.MP2 6 KB

Honestly, I don't really know much about this matter. My question would be on that the thumbnail you are seeing is from the JACKET_P folder. If so, I assume you just create this folder after reauthoring. Here's another thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24420&highlight=jacket+picture) to read on creating MP2s
This is as much I can do to help you. Good luck and if you are sucessful, post back. ;)

My problem is when I use tmpg to encode the picture it makes a .mpg that it says is a mpeg2 file, but the format does not say .MP2 the picture does not show when I burn it, I have read all the post but they don't say anything about the encoding, I sized the pictures, and in tmpg I set the 720x480 part, but can't get the large picture to be larger than 64k. I know I must be missing something. The first link you gave me talking about jacket pictures specs only said to make the pictures in bmp or tiff, nothing about encoding them, I now am trying the Jpg to avi to tmpg mpeg2 will let you know. Lots of steps.
any help would be great
thanks

This gave me a output file name with an extension MP2. You probably selected a System Stream type is you got MPG.
EDIT: Disregard this post.

You mean the picture should be encoded as a audio file? I have been encoding as a video file.
I will try that
thanks
