View Full Version : Errors when using Rebuilder and Quenc with low number of frame clips

Quenc will not encode clips with a small number of frames when in two pass mode. I was backing up a DVD which had many 1 frame clips in the extras and Quenc did not create any m2v files for them but did not give any error messages (It just quits). This eventually lead to Rebuilder failing in the rebuild phase. After making the m2v files manually using Quenc in one pass mode, I was able to have rebuilder successfully finish.

Testing of one of my files showed that the number of frames required for two pass mode to succeed was 3 frames but I assume that the true number will vary depending upon the bitrate and the source.

The workaround for this "bug" in Quenc would be to change Rebuilder so it would to have Quenc always do one pass encodes if the number of frames is small or perhaps Rebuilder could check to see if a m2v file was created and if not then try it again using one pass mode.

Hmmm... VBR really doesn't do a lot for 3 frames, does it... :p
