Hi, just wondering if anyone could point out the problem here. This has happened repeatedly when trying to recompile the VIDEO_TS / AUDIO_TS into a .nrg for burning. IMGtool, simply refuses to do this on some of the rebuilds I have done, for example, I have done a Rebuild of The Omen, and the follow message appears in the error log (ignore burning, its just copying to nrg):

Error: Burn failed.

This only happens with some discs created with DVDRebuilder. The message "Error: Burn Failed" pops up.

Has happened to Bound and The Omen thus far, and I haven't been re-encoding many discs yet:( I believe this is related to "Re-allocate VIDEO_TS structure" which I was told to leave checked to increase compatability. I did a search to see if this had been mentioned, but I couldn't find anything. Any help is greatly appreciated :)

Should I just uncheck Re-allocate VIDEO_TS structure and hope they work in standalones without it? Didn't see it mentioned anywhere.

You have to be doing something in addition to just Rebuilder. I can absolutely guarantee that .BUP files match .IFO files exactly on the files that DVD-RB creates.

Note: This can be easily fixed by copying the .IFO to the .BUP files (they are identical backups of the IFOs).

I assure you that I am not doing anything in addition. In fact I can guarantee that there are no extra steps to DVDrebuilder -> Imgburn, beyond deleting the extra temp directory :)

I use DVDrebuilder to re-encode and rebuild. I close it down. I have not touched anything in any shape or form, apart from deleting the temp directory with all the avisynth scripts and junk left from re-encoding in. I then click second button on the root of the DVD (the directory)> Burn with IMGtool. I then set it to image recorder, and hit burn. It then throws out the error. There are no additional steps I have taken.

IMGtool classic does not reallocate the structure into high compatability mode as far as I'm aware, it works as if this isn't clicked and thusly has no problem making an iso. Similarly, if i uncheck the compatability mode in imgburn, and click ok to the warning about not reallocating the structure (ie. may have trouble playing on some devices), it will create an nrg image.

Seemingly, IMGtool has trouble reallocating the structure in high compatability mode. This has only ever happened with DVDrebuilder, so I assumed there was something wrong with the rebuilding process as to why IMGtool takes offence.

Note: This can be easily fixed by copying the .IFO to the .BUP files (they are identical backups of the IFOs).

Tried, however in then throws up another error messsage about invalid VTS as if they are not pointing to the VOBs. Maybe there's something inside them that it doesn't like?

My question was more of, is this normal and should I not use compatability mode? Rather than, am i doing something wrong?

I guess I should not bother with reallocating the structure, and just use IMGburn classic, trusting that it will be fine? If you can guarantee that the bups match the ifo, and are valid, then I guess I should just ignore what imgburn is saying about them :)

thx for the info :)

The BUP file is only there as a backup in case the IFO file is corrupted. So it will work even if they didn't match (at least until you got a really huge scratch on a sector that contained an IFO).

I'm working from experience and I'm a little sensitive on this one... I had someone report this in the past using different burning software. I spent several hours trying to figure out how they could possibly be different -- only to find out later that it was a "helper" app that was changing the IFO.

Should the IFO's be correct regardless of the input? I've had Rebuilder put out incorrect sector references (IfoEdit's "Get VTS Sectors" corrected them), but when I checked the input directory, IfoEdit also corrected that, so I figured I'd see if it happened when starting with something "clean" before reporting it... (I'm mentioning it here because IfoEdit also corrected a BUP file.)

There are some sector corrections that IFOEDIT does that do not comply with most commercial dvds. (understand im not saying its not compliant, your dvd player should not have a problem with it) one example is the sector involved when there are 0 byte menu vobs. ifoedit will correct an unaltered commercial dvd in many cases when that exists.. yet the original dvd plays fine.

I also don't think it is necessary to do a "Get VTS Sectors" -- since the equivalent is already done within DVD-RB.

Well, it was definitely wrong; I added up the file sizes, divided by 2048, and the results I got matched what IfoEdit corrected it to, not what Rebuilder had written. I believe this was in the VMG_PTT_SRPT, and the start sector for the last title was too low. I'll provide details when I'm home, and retry after doing "Get VTS Sectors" on the original.

(If there's a better thread to put this in, please feel free to point me at it.)

I checked the disc, and it plays fine without reallocating the structure anyways, thx for the info. I'll ignore the errors about the ifo files being messed up next time and hope for the best:D

I was backing up Master Of Disguise, using latest Rebuilder and QuEnc. After Rebuilder finished, I did "Get VTS Sectors" with IfoEdit, and it gave 2 messages about stuff it was correcting.

I had made a backup copy of my IFOs (but, unfortunately, not my BUPs), so I restored the rebuilt IFO's and did the "Get VTS Sectors" again, and this time recorded the messages.

The first said:
Corrected sector address in table [VMG_PTT_SRPT]:
Title 17: [old: 2243685] [new: 2267931] (VTS_13_0.IFO)

The second said:
Corrected sector address in table [VMGI_MAT]:
Last sector of VTS: [old: 18272] [new: 42518] (VTS_12_0.BUP)

Because I didn't save the BUPs, I can't be sure that the second message is the same as what I got the first time. Here's the contents of the VIDEO_TS directory (note that there were no 0-byte files):

Note that VTS_12_* totals 87,060,480 bytes, which (divided by 2048) equals 42,510 sectors. Subtracting the start sectors shown for title 17 from title 16 yields a difference of 18,273. So, it appears that IfoEdit's corrections were right.

I kicked off another rebuild, after doing a "Get VTS Sectors" in IfoEdit, so I know that what I'm starting with is "clean". I'll let you know the results tomorrow.

Yes, it's repeatable.

The first message says:
Corrected sector address in table [VMG_PTT_SRPT]:
Title 17: [old: 2243973] [new: 2267931] (VTS_13_0.IFO)

The second says:
Corrected sector address in table [VMGI_MAT]:
Last sector of VTS: [old: 18560] [new: 42518] (VTS_12_0.BUP)

Here's what I get for "dir VTS_12*":
