View Full Version : XviD problem after powercut. Stuttering with deblocking.

Last night whilst encoding some stuff with XviD i had a powercut.

This morning when I try and run any XviD files (contained in AVIs) things are strange.

If I choose Deblocking (Y) then video playback starts to lag behind audio. The same happens with Film Effect. However, Deblocking (UV) doesn't give me a performance hit or effect decoding. Before I could quite happily have all deblocking on as well as film effect with no performance hit.

Does anyone have any idea what would have caused this? I've tried reinstalling XviD and other various drivers. I use WMPC 6.4.8.2 for playback, and Keopi's xvid 1.01 build. Win2ksp4. AthlonXP1900 GeForce Ti4400

Divx playback is not effected. If I decode the XviD file with ffdshow, it works fine, it's just XviD that is behaving badly all of a sudden.

xvid deblocking is more resource hungry, IIRC. So, I'd reset the bios settings and then reconfigure all for optimum performance. I once had a similar problem, and, it was due to non-optimal bios settings.

Just an idea ---

Check the System BIOS. It could have been resetted to defaults when there was the powercut. Maybe your CPU and/or RAM are underclocked...

I'll agree I had hte same sort of problem tweaking bios seetings only take 2-7mintunes once you learn your optimal settings

Use ffdshow or mplayer ;) much faster post processing
