I have a dvd with other garbage on it besides the audio video TS folders. I've had this happen before, I have to copy all extra content to get the dvd to play on my settop player. However, in this case there is a lot of compression in the movie and over 75 meg. of extras I would rather save for the video. Scenarist refers to it as, I believe, "Title 101" content. I tried copying a couple of small folders but still does not play. How do I remove the reference to this title 101 material or maybe make fake file folders to trick the player to the content its looking for.
Any ideas anyone??

I don't get it. You have to copy those folders to make it play on your settop? That doesn't make sense, since your settop will only read the VIDEO_TS folder. I also can't imagine it won't play on your PC either. I guess something else is happening here.
I hardly ever copy over the non dvdvideo related material and never have any problems with this.

What you are referring to is the PC extras and probably the PC player.
What are you using to try and playback the DVD on your computer? If you using that InterAct player, it's possible it needs all the extra files but only for PC playback.. settop doesn't even look to those files.
Title 101 i've only seen with RA which was a bug in his script generation pointing to something that doesn't exists. Did you use ReAuthorist to generate your script?

Yes, DS3, script was generated by Reauthorist. Sorry if I was vague before. I've had this problem in the past with 2 other movies. (Unless it was extreme coincidence)Both dvd's had extra content on them other than audio/video TS. Both times an imported script from reauthorist into scenarist gave a Title 101 warning. I was assuming this was the "extras" content and there was some script in one of the IFO's pointing to it. Because with only the A/V_TS's my Sony NC650V settop player appeared as though it was looking for something not there and gave me a play error. However, when I added the extras to the DVD it played fine. Now that I think about it, I think some of the extras of the dvd were more than DVD software installs, they were also screen savers for the settop DVD player to display on my TV, i.e. if I had it paused for a period of time. If I were a betting man, I'd bet there was a pointer to that screen saver! BTW, the disc plays fine on Powerdvd (computer). What's your ideas? Think I'm totally off base here?

Sorry guys... There just might be an issue with my burnt dvd. I'm still trying to figure out what's going on with my burning now. Looks like I was thrown for a loop because might disc image plays on powerdvd but i now realized my burnt dvd does not. I'll do a little more investigating b4 i get back... thanks

Ok, for what it's worth, an update. First thank you two for your help. I'm still learning. I did not know the VIDEO_TS folder was the only one read by the player. That alone tells me a lot. Due to uncanny coincidences, I was assuming elsewise. I used 2 used DVD-RW's (like I often do to test before useing DVD-R's) and both must of failed me. I even burned them multiple times. I just got a new set of DVD-rw's and, waallaa, it worked.
Also, I backed up a copy of an other movie straight to a DVD-R (new) which failed. There were extras on the disc. Disc also had its own screen saver, however I get that is also written in the VIDEO_TS folder too, right? Well, I then burned extras and video folder onto a new disc and it worked, so I just assumed... and made an ass out of just me... hehe.
Which leads me to an other question, one maybe that should be in a different forum, why did my 2 dvd-rw's fail me?? When I use nero and check the "Write" and "Finalize DVD (No Further Writing Possible)" under the burn tab, will the latter screw the rw's up for rewriting?!
Thanks again...

Well seems you made a little progress :)
Not sure why your -RW's failed except that some settops are picker then others. You may check the list at www.vcdhelp.com. They have a list of majority of settops and the compatibility with different media that it has.
I might suggest as well that you check out a program called ImgTool Classic. This tool will create a .iso from your final video_ts directory that you can then burn using DVDDecrypter. A lot of people have had problems with Nero generating disks that work. If you still prefer to use nero, there's another utility "ImgTool" (no classic) that interfaces with nero and sets all the settings for you. Both can be found at http://www.coujo.de/.
Finalize DVD just means no futher writing can be done to that particular burn. Yes you can still erase it though if it's a -RW

Thanks DS3... Yes I am aware of img classic. I'll check out IMGTOOL. Not aware of it. Funny you mention DVDDecrypter and IMGClassic because I have recently been using these two and decided to burn my troubled video this way. For some reason I like it better.
Keep up the great work!

It's not entirely true btw that your settop only reads the video_ts folder. It also reads the audio_ts folder and a folder called Jacket_TS (don't know if that's the correct naming). In this folder some kind of screensavers are stored (but only with compatible players). The PC stuff will not be read by the settop.

i have 2 dvds (musicals),with Jacked_p folder.
inside have 3 littles .mp2 files that work like a screensaver(freezed pictures)but it works only on standalones! in powerdvd(pc)don't work!
this pictures show up in the end after play the whole dvd.(don't remember if using stop works). that .mp2 files are too short.
if you rip this dvd to hdd, you loose this folder...dvddecrypter or other ripper can't "see" that folder!
i was thinking to ask how we can build it to use in our authoring dvds when i see this thread. anyone knows how to do it?

Your authoring program provides you with an option (well at least maestro and scenarist). Do a search on Jacket_p and you'll find some info.

If I understand you correctly Jorel, you want the extra folder (Jacket_P) that DVDDecrypter doesn't get ya. If that's the case, Just put in your DVD and do an explore on it and copy the Jacket_P folder on your hard drive. Then add it beside your VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders before you make your ISO.
If you want to learn how to author one up yourself, then do as Influenza tells ya, do a search. Can't help ya there:confused:
Good Luck

ahem:
"Jacket Information associates a picture with a DVD-Video disc. A disc’s Jacket Picture is a still
image that is displayed when the DVD player is stopped or paused (instead of the default,
startup picture from the DVD player’s manu"
lot more about it and how to use it in the Scenarist manual (check you scenarist installdir / Documentation)
