Whenever I try to use dif4u (1.4.0), numenu4u (RC build 1), sceneaid 1.0.0.0 (Pre release 6) and Scenarist 3 it seems to stop. When I start dif4u it starts dvd decrypter, then it launches numenu4u. Then numenu4u does the subs and then it launches cce. After all this it launches scenarist and I got an error saying script error. That's all it gave me. I tried using another version of numenu4u and it launches scenarist and generated a script for the first vts. But control never went back to dif4u. Can someone please help me out, this is kind of getting frustrating.

I just tried running dif4u without the reencode menus using numenu4u and it just seemed to work fine. Got past the part it was previously giving me trouble with. So, it seems to be that numenu4u isn't working for me. Any suggestions?

ShadowDweller,

there are a couple of things i would suggest.

1. run Numenu4u prior to running DIF4U. that way if there are any errors, you can adjust the settings in DIF4U if you choose not to re-encode the menu

2. take Numenu4u out of the equation (dont forget to change your settings in DIF4U in regards to copying menu files)

3. contact the author of numenu4u - zuel - in regards to your errors, as he may require some imformation from you to correctly troubleshoot your problems. there is a log file in the programs folder and some import etc log files in the project folders that may pinpoint the problems.

you can also adjust the settings in numenu to further isolate your issue - eg. set scenarist option to Import Script Only and see what(if any) errors occur. it would be helpful if you posted these as well

good luck

Alright, here is what I did so far. I started up numenu4u and just had it import the scenarist script. Now the question I have is after Scenarist imports the script, should I click on the layout editor and encode it? Or should I just import and then close scenarist? I am encoding it as we speak right now but just wanted to be certain.

check the import tab (lower left corner) and scan through to see if there were any errors/warnings and post here.
if not compile, and take note of any errors and post here.
if it compiles successfully, run the update_menu_ifo.bat (or something like that ?!?!?) in you temp directory and it will update the menus and copy them to the VIDEO_TS folder and you should be okay to continue with DIF4U

Here is what I have done so far. I took jel's advice and ran numenu4u RC 1 without running dif4u. I set up the option in numenu4u to import, compile, and close. I am using Scenarist 3 by the way, which might be my problem. First, not that I care, it imported perfectly, at least I think, because in Scenarist 3 there is no box in the lower left hand corner telling you what it is importing as previous versions have. After it finished importing it gave me a box saying that importing was complete and I had to hit the ok button manually, again I don't care. Second I had to manually compile, again I couldn't care less as long as it works. Now, here are my questions. Once Scenarist is done compiling and I close it what is numenu4u supposed to be doing? Was it supposed to close after authoring? Was it supposed to launch another program? Second, as I stated earlier I just used numenu4u to test it out but was it supposed to create an update_menu_ifo.bat file? It did not. As I am typing I have closed Scenarist about 10 minutes ago and numenu4u is still sitting as it has been. I would post the numenu4u.log but it is rather long, I will however post the last couple of lines and maybe someone could tell me if it is normal or not.

I just noticed that automate scenarist was running in the background. When I closed that task numenu4u shut down and I got the update_menu_ifo.bat

Is it possible to run that scenarist 3.0 isn't fully functional with numenu4u scenarist version RC1?

sorry about the long post, I find this education and frustrating as well

There has been a problem with automate_scenarist in v3.0, however we believe this to be now fixed. Copy the automate_scenarist from your scenaid directory (latest build). Numenu4u will wait until automate has closed before continuing. Herein lies your problem, automate failed; so that when it was closed numenu4u carried on. Try importing script only, in scenarist options. This will create a import log for analysis. Automate will then close and numenu4u will carry on. After manual compile run the .bat file. BTW in scenarist options you can turn on the info window :)

post your results

I copied the automate_scenarist file from the sceneaid directory into my numenu4u directory. I set up numenu4u to just import. I thought that since I just chose the option to import the script, automate scenarist was supposed to close after the import was complete. It is still running in the background. What should I do? Should I manually stop automate scenarist? It just finished compiling and the program is still running in the background... sorry to bother you with this again but I just want to know what's supposed to happen.
