Haha I know that - I just thought this thread was about some DMCA / RIAA bs using same sort of propaganda like if you see illegal music in P2P networks "Duck and cover". Hilarious when you think about it that they wanted people to believe that Duck & Cover could protect them from nukes :p

Its unfortunate that if anyone had actually been in this situation and done what they were told, they still would have received a lethal dose of radiation. Although a good "duck and cover" in the right place would result in lower dosages that would garauntee several years of painful existence due to radiation poisioning. I would prefer to be near the epicenter and burned to a crisp instantly.

I faintly remember having seen a very controversial drawn film (I don't want to say "comic") in the late 80's about an elderly couple who do duck and cover after an atomic bomb explodes and blows everything around their house away. Throughout the whole film you see how they slowly get sick and die away while they still keep on covering windows with newspapers. It' a very tragic "comedy".

I can't remember the name, I think it was something like "the day after" (but try to search for that in Google...)
Maybe the name was different, I didn't find it in imdb.com neither.

Do they live under some "doors" near the wall in their house, and paint their window in white? The ground is sterilized so they break roads to get fresh "ground"?

Have seen this movie too !!!

But Google gives me only links to The day after tomorrow...

I was about 12 years old when I saw it, so I can't remember exactly...

Not only the immediate radiation, but guess what happens with the fine dust which will appear everywhere, even in the environment.
I for sure wouldnt eat a fish from this area.

hasnt this turned serious ?

actually i remember seeing the day after in high school(showing my age).

a movie that shows the duck and cover film(not original) and then says exactly what its worth at the end is the iron giant.

Sirber
26th August 2004, 17:22
huh?

I think this movie was just to avoid population panic, even if the "duck and cover" technique has no effect on the fact that they will die anyway.

yes it was. the iron giant is set in the 50's and it has the duck and cover film being shown in schools. then at the end when a missile has been launched a government agent says "we can duck and cover", to which a general replies "dont be an idiot". you would have to see it. :)

hey, this video is a great test of dirt-removal plugins.

i downloaded the mpeg-2 of it from archive.org and it's proving quite a challenge for grain-removal-skillz

dust and scratch all over it. good thing it's got a regular telecine pattern though. it could be much worse.
