Hi, I wonder if I can open mp4 video files, made it with Nero Recode 2, but with another software player than Nero Show Time.
I am having problems with Nero Show Time, everytime I want to open a mp4, the player closes by it self. I've sent an e-male to the people of Nero, but they seems to be not interested in helping me... and I am an original owner of Nero 6.
Greetings! :)

:search: before starting a new thread, there is a whole big mp4 faq sticky available in the container section you will find the link to in my sig, which lists dozens of players able to handle .mp4 files

Well... thanks. That was more helpful than the people of Nero...
I wanted to make a test, just to see how those Nero mp4 video files look, I just encoded a few minutes and then I wanted to see it with the Nero Show Time... It is possible that you must encode the entire movie to be able to see it, because it happen what I told you before.
Can you answer that or should I look in some FAQ? :p
Greetings!

Hi castellanos,
Try downloading and installing the newest version of Nero VisionExpress (nve 2.1.2.18).
This version is the most flexible yet. And will let you play your .MP4 encodes in WMP9.
However, if all you've got installed are a series of Nero 'only' DSdecoder drivers, you may struggle to play your .MP4 encodes in other media players such as MediaPlayer Classic etc (to be more precise the audio stream will not be decoded).
You may also be interested to know that the new version of Nero's ShowTime player responds much faster than earlier versions.
All in all, it's a much improved product... and getting better every month.
Cheers

well it should work to encode some seconds normally, unless recode is buggy

Yes, Nero Show Time likes you if you bought AC3plugin from them.
VLCPlayer and MPlayer are loving you all time for free and playing everything including .ts streams.

eb Yes, I know what you mean eb...
I have an OEM version of Nero6 which came with my BTC DVDRW 1008IM burner. When it comes to installing Nero's software I install Nero6 from the OEM disc and then the latest version of NVE, downloaded from their update site.
Even so... I'm still greeted with this: -

I can't remember reading anywhere that having the OEM (or monthly trial) version of Nero6/NVE means you still have to buy an multi-channel plug-in!

Yes, I know what you mean
Even when you buoght these plugins, they are only for decoding but not for encoding.

Greetings! No! Or at least you could not with their v2.5 player.
I wouldn't have thought they would have changed their minds either. As they are not very fond of the .MP4 container (or AAC audio)!
Well it's their loss... I guess!
