How does changing the maximum mv range effect the nero digital codec as it seems to have very little impact on the encoding speed.
Also what setting has everyone been using to good effect?
Also what would be interesting to know is what the maximum mv range in XVID and other MPEG-4 codecs is.

From our experiments 64 pixels gives in most cases optimal results. In some few case, you can have a slightly better result by increasing the range to 128 pixels (extremely fast motion clip).

ok thanks for the info bobololo just a couple of questions though?
could increasing the mv range be detrimetal to the video quality of the encode? (im not concerned about encode speed or hardware compatibility)
what mv range would you recomend for hdtv?
and does anyone know what mv range XVID uses?

For XviD, maximum mv range is 128. Increasing mv range won't decrease quality.

so it must be a hardware compatibilty thing then.
I will test it on the xbox media center later but vlc works fine which uses the same ffmpeg decoder. Although xbmc can play almost anything even 3wp gmc and qpel.
