recode volume?

I used recode to convert a dvd to mp4 (and it looks great!). The DD 5.1 sounds great, however it is at a very low volume, so I have to turn my reciever way up to hear it. Did I do something wrong, or is that just the way it is?

AC3 is sometimes lower. Dunno why. That's why we usualy normalize.
