Hello all,

I usually encode my videos in Virtualdub. Here is my setting:

Xvid code
Deinterlace (mode: blend)

If I encode my movies by using deinterlace, can I play it smooth in hardware player? Will there any problem if I play the movie in TV or Plasma? Any one try that?

Thanks for any information.

Depending on where you are in the world most 'movie' DVD's are already de-interlaced - Anime DVD's might be different though!

You might have some 'extras' on a DVD that are interlaced (ie: special features such as, trailers, making of's, interviews, etc) but the 'main feature' should be progressive.

I view most of my Mpeg4 encodes progressively on a 42" HD plasma and they look great.

That said, care must be taken not to generate encodes using (Mpeg4 ASP) features that your hardware player can't player can't process!

Cheers
