Well just went to watch a backup.

On one of the chapters it stops dead. Also you can't fast forward or reverse, and chapter skip doesn't work either, skips to the end of the movie.

This is only on my older DVD player. Newer one works fine, and it works on power dvd. (Older player plays Big3/Scenarist back ups flawlessly, and pretty much anything else)

Is there some compatability problems with the Authoring precess DVD-RB uses ?? Kinda a pain since i already did a few backups, i hope they all arn't messed up.

The sony freeze was fixed with 0.56 so unless its a layer break thing, nobody has a clue since freezing is not a problem anymore.

Still a problem on older sanyo's i guess. Although it only happened on 1 Disk, so i guess it ain't too bad.

What type of media did you use ?
Is it a -R or +R ?
Is it a rewritable ?

I ask just because old players may have troubles in reading rewritable or +R disks...

Anyway the type of media supported by the player should be clearly indicated in the player's manual...

Cheers,
SD

Virtually every case I've seen of this (other than the Sony fix) was caused by a bad burn. I had it happen to me last week, and the fix was a reburn of the disc (with no changes to the DVD-RB output at all). Too bad too, I'd had really good experiences with the Meritline Ritek G04s up until that point -- it seems to be happening on only one pack of 25 that I received.

It was on a -R.

I've recently switched to FujiFilm disks (Tayo Yuiden) so i doubt it's those.

possible it was a bad burn, but everything is verified afterwards with DVD Decrpter.

But you never know, mabye i'll try another burn.

Just double checked. Turns out it's on a Ritek (Or should i say Craptek) disk.

Will re-burn it to a TY and see how it goes.

Is it just me, or has Ritek gone to hell recently. No real point anymore anyways, with Verbatim & TY's so darn cheap now.

I thought it was just me. I recently tried my first spindle of Ridata Ritek G04s and found they wouldn't burn over 2X without calibration errors. Previously I have burned 100+ OEM G04s (shrinkwrapped in red) without any problems.

Interesting that we're all seeing this at the same time... could be their QC has gone south.

I think i've gone through 200 Ritek's, just plain OEM G03 Ink Jet ones.

No problems. The G03's were Perfect!

When those dired up i went to OEM G04's, some minor burn problems, but overall verygood. But now i am noticeing some of them have some pixelation.

I have 100 Ridata Ink Jets also, havn't used them yet, hopefully they are decent. Pretty much use these for friends when they need something backed up.

Lately though i have just been grabbing 10 Packs from Future Shop & Radio Shack (20$ for 10 Maxwell or Fuji) and these disks are perfect. Never one coaster. never one pixel out of place. I wish i could buy them in bulk somewhere. Fuji are really TY.

The G04 injet version are all I've been buying -- and the stack that had the problems is inject as well.
