View Full Version : Help please: FlyDS capturing program stops recording erratically

I'm using the FlyDS capturing program because of its advatages in video quality and syncing, which I haven't found in any other program.
There is however a big problem: the program stops recording after changing periods of times, ranging from 8 to 15 minutes and an error message says there's no space left on the disk, which I have plenty.
I've sent an email to the developer of the program but didn't get an answer.
Is there someone here who knows what the problem might be?
I'd appreciate any help as this is my only good working way of recording.

Hello, and welcome to the forum.
Is your disk drive using FAT32 or NTFS? If the former, individual files are limited to 4GB.
I've not used FlyDS, so I don't know if there are software limitations, or if it supports segmented files (as Vdub does).

Thanks, apparently it is the 4GB limit that caused the sudden stop.
I didn't see any segmenting feature in FlyDS :-(

If you're running a DOS-based Windows (95/98/ME) you must upgrade to an NT-based Windows operating system to use NTFS.
If you're already running an NT-based Windows (NT/2000/XP) you can use the "convert" command to convert FAT32 to NTFS.

Thanks but I'm not so sure I want to convert to NTFS. I understand it'a an irreversible step.
I just read that Avi_io might support segmentimg. I'll check it out.

@Real_Me
Partition Magic by Power Quest (now owned by Symantec/Norton) allows you to go back and forth between NTFS and FAT32. I think once you make the transition you won't look back, I didn't. Some programs support segmented files, others don't. After you can handle large files, you don't have to worry about it. Just my opinion, hope it helps.

Thanks for reminding me about PM. For now it does seem like a worthwhile move which might spread to my other partitions :-)
