I am having trouble with this show I am trying to encode. Mainly the problem is that there is prob shimmering (dont know what else to call it.) that is on the borders of the characters (cartoon show) the black lines are kind of broken up and they arent a constant broken up they are like broken up then next frame that broken up spot is filled with black while another peice is broken up which causes this realyl annoying effect. well in my opinion at least. The source itself is a hybrid, and noise wise its pretty clean; however there are rainbows and such. I had to run a couple of filters before I could use any sort of IVTC and then the consequences crapped up another problem: IT caused ghosting and so did Telecide(which suprisingly shocked me) and not to mention many combs were passed through (especially with telecide even with a low vtrhesh and high dthresh) So I resorted to DGBob and Blend Bob following it and that was pretty much good because it got rid of all the rainbows and little to no combs were left. The main problem now is the broken up bits. can anyone help? Can anyone even understand what im saying? lol because I dont think I can :P

Edit: some Key facts about video:
-Has Dot Crawls, Rainbows, and the standard shimmering as well.
-Dot Crawls are not just in static scenes thus GuavaComb is not good enough in this.
-Hybrid Video and not purely interlaced ; Semi Irregular patterns, closest pattern matching to guide=1.
-Relatively Clean noise wise

Edit: my aplogies it can only be shown by video and I dont have a host to upload the video to.. :| but Basically I would consider it to be shimmering to a lower degree ? (IT does it as well and same with telecide except to a lower degree then DGBob) What I mean is like in shimmering its like the black lines go in and out like a blinking sort of effect except not . However with this its basically the same except to a lesser degree.

Edit: Also I guess you can say its like an ants effect on the borders (it makes it seem like the borderlines(black borders of the characters and what not are moving) Basically what a dot crawl does except rather then having more black lines moving up and down with jagginess its more like a lack of a solid black line...

Did that help any? :|

for removing rainbow you can try the script i posted here http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=80818
but I've to say that dot crawling is the most annoyest to remove I've tried all sorts of ways to remvoing it on one of my video I worked on.

Sorry for being unclear. I mean the rainbows and dot crawls I have eliminated to a great extent thanks to BlendBob and other filters the main problem at the moment is the fact that there are breaks in lines where there shouldnt be or the lines thin out in parts making it seem like the lines are moving... It really irritates me though its probably watchable. The reason I posted that there were rainbows and dot crawls was just in case if that could screw anything up. Also I dont know if it matters but the IDCT algorithm I am using is the Simple IDCT from the Xvid project as stated from DGbob help file.

Edit: Also I dont know if this helps but FieldDeinterlace(full=true) works great except it ghosts and if I interpolate it instead (full= true , blend=false) the anti-aliasing goes away and everything becomes jaggy even in frames with out any interlacing (this even happens with full = false ) so I am at a loss to what to do its confusing me to a good extent :|
