I previously had DiVX Pro 5.1.1 codec installed and had no problems decoding any DiVX files. I "upgraded" to the latest 5.2 version and now I have severe slowdown on decoding. The defaults are set for the decoding (same as they were for 5.1.1) but when attempting to load an avi via AVISynth or into TMPGEnc Plus, the result is that every frame takes an inordinate amount of time. Trying to do a preview in TMPG is painful at best as every frame takes upwards of 10 seconds or more to display. This is on a P4 1.7GHz with 1GB of PC800 RDRAM, WinXP Pro.
I uninstalled DiVX 5.2 and just used the latest Xvid codec to decode and there was no slowdown. I reinstalled DiVX 5.1.1 and also no slowdown.
As a test, I ran an avi file through TMPGEnc Plus to convert to MPEG2 for DVD. The file was 01:34:52 (hr:mn:sec) long. It was encoded with DiVX5. With Xvid to decode, the process took 3hr,32mn. With DiVX5.1.1, it took 3hr,47mn. With DiVX5.2 it took 9hr,57mn.
So, why is DiVX 5.2 so slow??????? It has the exact same decoding options (the defaults) as the older version and even with all postprocessing disabled it is still significantly slower than 5.1.1. What's up here?
