View Full Version : Not the bitrate I ordered

I have this problem when I encode mpg files recorded with Pinnacle Deluxe USB from tv: Using XVID at a bitrate at i.e. 1000 will give me a very undersized file. Checking with GSpot tells me the actual bitrate is about 800.

Have tried to raise the bitrate, but the avi file will come out just the same.

DivX5 seems to encode in the ordered bitrate.

Any answer, ladies & gents?

Take a look at the quant distribution. I bet you got maxed out the codec. You might allow quant 1 and turn off b-frames if you haven't done so already. Divx5 is less efficient so it naturally takes more space for the same quality.
