What if will be doing subtitles from the scratch (no subtitles are on the video I will demux). Will the VOB size remain the same after I will remux the streams adding my subtitles? If not, will the procedure explained in the "HOW TO" FAQ give working results?

Pal, U can't exspect answers to questions so vague as the one U asked.
If U have a pint of beer:D and U add a few drops of beer ...du U have the same amount ?
And about the guides, of course they work otherwise they wouldn't stay pinned.
If this doesn't answer ur question then there is something wrong with the question:D

not so easy...
okay... the size does change. but in that case the VOB size will be different (and will be over its regular size of 0.99 Gb). Will that be acceptable (I dont know if there could be some limitations for this) or should I do something just to stay at 0.99 Gb per VOB or below that size? will that also mean that different VOBs after muxing them back with added subtitles will have different sizes (since the subtitle data is different for each VOB)? Or should I demux the whole movie title at once and not each VOB separately?

Regards,

Mike

Maybe I should point out that if you want to mux subs into a vob, you usually start with separate audio, video and subtitle streams (.sup files). The mux of all these is done in one step (yeah, I know, temp files can be involved) using ifoedit or rejig ... and the correct vob sizes are created.

This would be the most basic way of creating a subbed dvd ... if you use different authoring packages, you can import txt or bmp-based subs and have them added to your dvd project. Again, the authoring package will generate correctly-sized vob files.

Or were you talking about submux-dvd? It does indeed take "standard" vobs and adds subs afterwards (much like you would do for subbed svcds). There, indeed non-standard, invalid vob sizes will be generated & you will have to run them through ifoedit to fix them.
