Hi,

is it possible to make support for Mencoder in DVD Rebuilder? I think it is the very good freeware encoder and the best in low bitrates... better than cce! But for me ist is not easy to use becuase it is a cmd client based program. Is it possible in future updates to integrate this encoder? Rebuilder can be the first prog that make support for this nice encoder.

thanks and kind regards

Will it work with .AVS files?

I was looking into this and it appears Mencoder is primarily a MPEG4/AVI encoder. It says this about encoding to MPEG:

MEncoder can create MPEG (MPEG-PS) format output files. It's probably useful only with libavcodec's mpeg1video codec, because players - except MPlayer - expect MPEG1 video, and MPEG1 layer 2 (MP2) audio streams in MPEG files.

This feature is not very useful right now, aside that it probably has many bugs, but the more importantly because MEncoder currently cannot encode MPEG1 layer 2 (MP2) audio, which all other players expect in MPEG files.

To change MEncoder's output file format, use the -of mpeg option.

Of course, QueEnc utilizes libavcodec too, so I don't know what would be gained by supporting Mencoder, if it works with MPEG2 and AVS files. I'm not saying nothing would be gained, I'm just saying I literally don't know if there would be any difference.

I haven't tried it:
ECLmencode (http://keeper.movie2digital.de/)
I read in the site:

# what is ECLmencode?
ECLmencode is basically the mencoder handler you may know from rb-keeper. It will take your ECL file and encode everything within.
# What do i need for using ECLmencode?
You need nothing more that any valid ECL file (from DVD-RB. DoItFast4U or any other application) and a mencoder build. It you're planning to encode AVS files, you may want to use this build. Before the first start, you have to specify the mencoder path in the settings file.
# How do I use ECLmencode?
It's very simple to use, you've just to load any of your ECL files and press the orange encode button. Your ECL files will get analysed and encoded, you can specify additional options in the settings file.

It works great (a little slow, but that`s a mencoder prob.)!
But you have to use the correct version of the mencoder (mencoder-20031126.exe). Other versions chrashes.

Its to big to attach and i dont remember where ist from, but it must be an avs version.
On this site (http://keeper.movie2digital.de/usage05.php) he added a link under mencoder settings. I thinks its the right one (build of milan).

you can use the internal encoding engine, which will use a mencoder build you specify for the encoding. Your build should support AVS files. You can use the build of milan, read more about that here. currently (build of 13.05) you need YUY2-Output in your script, so i suggest to run DVD-RB in the 'CCE-mode'
