View Full Version : What is happening with Audio Drop Out?

Several requests have been posted recently requesting an update on this problem and I have not seen anything from jdobbs responding?

It would really be appreciated if we could be told what's happening as I get the impression that it has been forgotten about and attention moved to other bug fixing issues. I have no axe to grind here - if it is the case that it cannot / will not be fixed for whatever reason then at least we (the ones having the problem!) will know what to expect and if necessary switch to other solutions. Not knowing what is happening is now getting a bit frustrating.

Status Please?

I haven't had time to work on much for quite some time now. I've been working extended hours and have been out of town for a week. If I knew what was wrong (assuming it is) I would fix it -- but until my paying job calms down you'll just have to wait. Considering the lack of donations I've received -- I wouldn't push it too hard or I may be tempted to just abandon the project all together.

I'm just tired. :(

No probs jdobbs - I am sure we all appreciate the work you have put in so far and its a shame that for some of us we are getting this problem and also that you are unable as yet to trace the route cause. I can assure you that the problem is still there (confirmed by lots of other testers in various threads). I will pursue other solutions until hopefully you can get this fixed.

Thanks for the update and try not to get too stressed out with the day job.

Take a holiday :)

I told you jdobbs as soon as the dropout problem is fixed I'll send you a hefty donation. Yes, The audio dropout problem does exist but its only for certain dvd players, you should know that by now.

I don't like doing that as its not quite fair to hold you hostage to the bug situation, but its just how I can justify the expense from my end. When Rebuilder is usable for me, it'll be worth paying for.

"(...)Considering the lack of donations I've received -- I wouldn't push it too hard or I may be tempted to just abandon the project all together(...)"

Please... be patient... think about all the hard work that you've been havin' all this time.

About the donations, or the lack of it, maybe it has something to do about the economic crisis ;)

As far as I'm concern, I've been "loosing" some of my time too, take a look at http://dvd-rb.dvd2go.org/index.php and see it for yourself (I've tried to contact you by PM but You never replied).

I don't know if it makes you happy (without donations I think you won't :) ) but, as you can see at http://dvd-rb.dvd2go.org/stats/ you got users from more than 20 different countries, I think that this is something that has to make you proud (I garantee you that I'm proud to have a site to support your program).

Someday, in some place I'm sure You'll be Rewarded for your work :)

You can start to contact me if you want to spend some holidays here in Portugal... I can offer you free host :D :) :D :) :D :) :D .

THANX FOR ALL

@Rockas

I'm not worried as much about the donations as I am the impatience shown by some of the users of DVD-RB. I'd like to remind them of the "free pie" analogies...

I just want to emphasize to everyone that I am doing this out of my free time with virtually no incentive beyond my own pride of authorship -- mainly as a service to the internet community and especially to the folks I've come to respect and who have also contributed here at Doom9 (like the work you've done). The one advantage of this type of situation is that I'm not obligated to anyone. So demands of any kind fall on deaf ears.

Requests and suggestions, on the other hand, are cheerfully accepted. :)

By the way, cool site. I registered dvd-rb.com and dvdrebuilder.com but haven't really done any work with them. Maybe I can redirect??

I completly understand you... and I think you are absolutly right... I was only concerned 'cause you mentioned the word "quit"... that's not a good word :)

Keep it up!!!

Good job registering the domains jdobbs.. there are plenty of scammers waiting to hijack the name of a tool like dvd-rb for commercial purposes.

I do web and graphic design for a living (with a college degree in that field too ;)), I would be happy to help you with a site layout or even the gui of DVD-RB if you ever want me to.

Hi!
I hope that you are not refering to me on your post. If that is the case I got to tell you that I'm not making a single cent with the Site of Rebuilder.
The donation link is connected to jdobbs account.
The Google Ads are there 'cause they are part of the free hosting deal that I got with the guy that gave me the host space.
As I said before... I DON'T get a cent from it... if u don't believe me you can ask him... his the creator of DVD2SVCD, a real cool guy and, by the way, let me tell you that he offers a great service to the "community" :)

I don't think he was talking about you. You know the people... the same guys that were selling DVD Shrink with a "guide" included (you only pay $49.95 for the guide).

Rockas: Like jdobbs said I was referring to those kind of people. Normal community sites like yours and doom9 that offer free guides and download links are the backbone of the internet since the early days.

Don't worry... I never got ungry :)
We have a phrase here in Portugal thas says: a man that doesn't own is a man that doesn't fear.

All I got to say is if everybody gives a little everyone gets a lot :D

keep it up

ps. by the way $49.95?!?!?!? and they sold it!?!?!?!?!? If they could sell any "specimen" I would like to buy their secret to discover those who bought LOLOLOLOLOL
