View Full Version : Run-time error '76': Path not found

First off I want to thank everyone here for all the great guides and posts. I admit I'm brand new to all this (3 weeks under my belt) and I've been able to pull off everything but doing a movie only back-up with Rebuilder v0.56. I've tried just selecting movie only in Decrypter 3.2.3.0 and encoding those but receive the run-time error '76': path not found message. I recently tried to do it with ifoedit v0.96 using the guide in the partial back-ups section and I get the same run-time error in Rebuilder when I try to encode those(using Rebiulder because it's still to large after everything is stripped). I know I can do it with DVDshrink but I want the quality of CCE basic which I purchased to do all this. I don't know what other info I can give you. Like I said I followed the partial back-up guide to a tee. The movie I'm currently trying to back-up is Out of Sight, but I've had this problem with every movie I've tried. Thank you for any advice or help any of you can provide.

The easiest way to do movie only is to 'reauthor' it with DVD Shrink, but set the compression level to "No Compression", then use the output as your DVD-RB source.

Thank you for the quick response. Unfortunately, I tried it and got the same error message. :(

I think that error is usually related to a missing file. Could you post a file list for your source directory?
You might have to create a VTS_01_0.VOB file if one doesn't exist.

AFAIK the VTS_01_0.vob is not needed if you don't have a menu (movie only) But a VIDEO_TS.VOB is...:D

Many times I follow the opposite approach: since DVD-RB is designed to operate on full DVD, and since it is actually in the stage of beta testing, when I need to do some type of customisation to the DVD contents, instead of pre-processing I perform all cuts and changes after the title has been rebuilt by RB.
To follow this approach it is necessary to produce an oversized result, applying a specific tuning related to the CCE target sectors parameter, in the hidden settings.
This way may require to rebuild the title more than one time, and this is the cost to pay, but in my experience post-processing a title is much safer than pre-processing...
Cheers,

I can't say thank you enough for all the advice. How do I go about creating a video_ts.vob for those files?

Near the top of the the first post in this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=60788&highlight=blank+cell+zip) there is a ZIP file you can download containing blank cell VOB files. Extract the 1_BLANK_CELL.VOB file and rename it to whatever you need.

Funny, I proposed the same thing a couple of hours earlier in this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?threadid=80494). I just came across this thread and noticed the crossposting.

Sorry guys, I tried the blank cell and still got the same error message.

This isn't a solution to your problem really, but take a look at all of jsoto's tools. His main page is here (http://www.posunplugged.com/jsoto/). VobBlanker is a perfect for producing an effectively movie-only dvd, but with menus. It automatically creates the proper blank vobs and bypasses their playback by moving PGC post commands to pre commands.
2COOL's guides have been enormously helpfull in these matters. jsoto's VobBlanker seems to take the same approach he describes in his guides. It just replicates the exact VOB structure (i.e. vobid/cellid count). BlankVob is exceptionally usefull with your guides too.
Thanks to both of you 2COOL and jsoto!

anymore ideas about what I can do to fix this problem or what I may be doing wrong?

In your first post you say '..I've tried just selecting movie only in Decrypter 3.2.3.0 and encoding those..' instead of trying to pull off selected bits of streams or program chains have you tried pulling the entire disc onto your hard drive with File Mode? I ask because you may not be pulling all the relevant or needed data for processing. Some programs I have tried in the past did not like it when I tried to pull off 'just the movie' and would only work if I pulled the entire disc onto the hard drive.
As posted above stripping off the movie only with Dvdshrink in no compression mode after it is on your hard drive and then running through DVDRB if needed is an excellant way to go. Do it all the time :). You can even strip movie only in reauthor mode of Dvdshrink from the disc itself but I feel it takes longer then doing it with Decrytpter.
A bonus of having the entire disc on your hard drive (in their proper directories,ie \VIDEO_TS and \AUDIO_TS subdirectories)is if you find you have room to add other bells and whistles you might want you do not need to re-rip the disc.

Yes, I usually rip the entire dvd to the HD. I was just saying I've tried doing movie only also. I've also tried movie only through DVDshrink and then using rebuilder but it gave me the same error message. I'm starting to resing myself to the fact that the only way I can do movie only is through DVDsrhink and that I wasted my money on CCE because the only time I can use it is if the DVD is small enough to fit on a single dvd.

Hello!
I, for the first time got this error a few minutes ago, I checked my directories and had all of the needed VOBs, so I checked the .INI file for DVD-RB and realized that the location where I specified ECL to no longer exists! I've been RB since some of the first versions posted to the forum and I still do silly things like that :)
So I fixed it, and am fairly certain that was the problem.
(If it is not - I will be editing this post in the next 10 minutes :)
So verify all your paths are correct in the setup menu - that is my suggestion!
Thanks,
Elmo
